The flash of a smile, the twinge of the eyebrows, the lingering stare... when men like someone, they are usually quite terrible at hiding it. We're an open book and it's not too hard to read what's on our minds. But occasionally you'll come across this mysterious sort that where you really can't tell whether or not the guy likes you. Times like these are when you might look up for some kind of signal. He's smart, he's dashing and charming, but is he into you?

Verbal and Body Language

Calls and Messages
A guy who's into you will call you a lot, for no apparent reason. He generally has nothing to say but just wants to hear your voice and make his presence felt. He won't even cut the phone. He'll keep on egging the fledgling conversation on with phrases like 'So what else?'. A shyer, less direct guy will probably send you a lot of sweet texts, during the day and just before he sleeps. He'll send a lot of those 'good friends' messages, slowly graduating to 'you're my best friend' to 'love definitions'. He too will send a lot of similar pointless messages like 'hey what's up?' And the replies to your reply will be alarmingly fast as well!

Starts a Conversation
Try sitting alone for once and catch the eye of this guy. What does he do? Does he ditch his friends as if it is the most obvious thing to do, and come to your side and starts a conversation? Guys don't generally ditch their friends too often and when they do, they have a pretty good reason to. You. This is one of the sure signs that he's interested in dating you.

Helps You a Lot
You drop a book, a pen, a rock... whatever. He'll come and pick it up. Often he'll even run a distance to do so, to make him look all chivalrous. He'll help you with your homework, run errands for you, always pick up your call and even walk your dog if you ask him too. We men go to unimaginable lengths to impress women!

Your Interests are My Interests
"You like baseball? I like baseball. You like Gossip Girl? Gossip Girl is like my favorite show in the world. Oh Ballet? It's my dream to skip around with a skimpy, frilly body-tight outfit." And while he may detest these things from the pits of his heart, he'll still go the distance, watch/do or at least learn about these things to impress you. Is he doing that?

Always on Time
Men are notoriously always late. We can miss buses, trains, planes, meetings. But call us home for a little help with your homework and guess who comes in 10 minutes before time? The guy who likes you. Others will come 30 minutes before time and saunter around in your part of town too!

Listens to What You Say
Men are also terrible listeners. We have a gift of saying 'yes' and 'no' at the right time, even without listening to what you're saying. But a guy who's into you will tune in to every single word and will remember months later that you liked a bag of a particular design and clothes of this color. When it comes to you he will have a startlingly keen memory and will listen and mentally record every single thing you say.

Less Obvious Signs

That Dazzling Smile
Whether reserved or the life of the party, this guy will save his best, most dazzling smile only for you. And he'll continue smiling when he talks to you and meets you. And it is not one of those well-rehearsed fake smiles? He just likes being around you and the smile is a result of his inner happiness.

What? I Can't Hear You
He'll say that and use the opportunity to come closer to you. While this may not necessarily mean that he loves you, it can also mean that the man harbors a great sexual desire for you. But he'll come in closer, take in the finer aspects of your beauty, your looks, your smell and perhaps surmise what your luscious lips taste like, it is one of the inescapable signs he's really into you.

Eyes on You
He can't help but look can he? A piercing gaze from across the room, either followed by the aforementioned smile or a hasty look away, is one of the clearest signs. There may be some lovely ladies on the dance floor, but there's only one he wants to get to know better.

Now I know the less obvious aren't that less obvious at all, but like I said, we men can barely keep a secret, and so it's not all that hard to tell that a guy likes you. Just keep your eyes and ears open!
