Siegfried and Roy Put on Final Show for Charity
Famous Las Vegas performers Siegfried and Roy put on one more show over the weekend for charity – a televised version of the performance will be aired next Friday.
Over the weekend, performers Siegfried and Roy put on a show for charity. In 2003, the recent show put on by the performers could never have been envisioned after Roy Horn was mauled by a white tiger during a performance. Perhaps most amazing is that the charity show that the famous duo put on also included another well-known friend - namely, Montecore, the very tiger who was responsible for Horn’s injuries.
Horn appears during the show in black robes and with a skeletal mask covering his face. He limped onstage and often steadied himself by holding onto Siegried Fischbacher’s shoulder. The pair performed a fan favorite, with Fischbacher dressed in white robes and mask, standing inside a cage. When Horn removed the drapes that surrounded the cage, Fischbacher appeared on the other side of the stage, with the now-infamous white tiger taking his place in the cage.
After the short performance, the duo removed their masks, with Fischbacher standing between Montecore and Horn. Said the announcer at the end of the show, "Within all of us there is an illusive melody, which when heard and followed will lead you to the fulfillment of your fondest dreams." Siegfried and Roy, performed over 5,000 shows over a 13-year run as one of the most successful shows in Las Vegas history, but their performances immediately were stopped after the 2003 incident, in which Montecore, the tiger, grabbed Horn by the neck and dragged him offstage. Horn was partially paralyzed by the attack, and suffered damage to a major artery and his windpipe. The performance will air next Friday in a "20/20" special.
