Siege Within
A stream of thought poetry that mulls over the mind and harnesses the heart. Does peril lead to conflict or conflicts lead to peril? ...

For I beseech light in darkness, life in death,
Magic in the mundane, silence in chaos.
Oh, What am I to do?
Trust the heart that beats
Or the mind that thinks?
I sink into the deep valleys of doubt and disdain.
Could the heart be a sinner
A soul seller to Satan?
But that shouldn't be;
A loyal heart may not betray the master.
Who is the master, after all?
Does the heart own the mind or does the mind own the heart?
I know not whether to trust the heart,
Or sustain monogamy with the mind?
Why the fear, why the pain;
Why the unbearable urge to slip into oblivion.
Yet something seated deep within,
Vouches for the heart, for it can never prune your emotions
Oh, but how can I forget the world,
The hyperbole of the 'testimonial' mind
That rises, rules and reigns ...
Gripping the strings of time and power
Wound across a fabric weaved in the threads of manipulation.
An eternal conflict abounds,
That painstakingly inflicts pain
But I cannot deceive my heart I know ...
For what am I without my heart?
A defamed soul simmering in somatic and emotional discomfort
Devoid of virgin presence?
And without a mind, I live only to be called the fool. ...
