On the other hand, eating too much is also a symptom of illness. Apart from keeping a check on your pet's appetite, it is also advisable to monitor the nature of its elimination. If there are any traces of blood in the cat stool or urine or the presence of mucus in the same, then you must discuss this with the vet. If there are incidences of your cat vomiting frequently, then this might also be a symptom of disorder in the animal. Even color or odor of the feces or urine may help in diagnosing the cat's condition.

Other symptoms which might be indicative of any sickness in your cat include stark white, yellowish, bluish or pale appearance of the skin of mouth and gums. Cats are among those animals who like to keep themselves clean and well-groomed. They are pretty particular about their personal hygiene. When you let it go, the skin should snap back into its place, if your pet is well hydrated, which won't be the case otherwise.

What to feed a sick cat and what not, is best when consulted or discussed with a vet. If your pet is too weak to take his meal himself, then you can feed him by your hands.
