The couple reportedly had a custody hearing on September 12, 2008 and the judge ruled that Stone’s ex-husband should have full custody of their son. Per the documents Phil Bronstein "shall have permanent sole physical custody of child. Court finds that respondent [Sharon Stone] failed to meet her burden of proof and denies respondent’s [Sharon Stone’s] request for modification of custody." The documents also say that Bronstein is able to "provide a more structured continuity, stable, secure and consistent home that…Roan needs."
The order is permanent unless Stone moves closer to her ex who now resides in the San Francisco area. Stone was presumably looking to get the custody arrangement changed in order to have more time with Roan. The judge said that "the court does not find that to move away is in the child’s best interest." Stone retains visitation rights with her son. In April, Stone reportedly sought to have joint living arrangements and it was ruled that Bronstein would retian full physical custody of the boy.
Stone and newspaper editor Bronstein were married on Valentine’s Day 1998. The couple adopted Roan Joseph who was born in May 2000. Stone and Bronstein announced their separation in 2003 and their divorce was granted in January 2004. Stone adopted her second son – Laird Vonne Stone on May 7, 2005. She adopted her third son Quinn Kelly Stone on June 28, 2006. It has been rumored that Stone is dating Craig Ferguson of The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
