Shania Twain & Hubby Split

Twain’s rep, Jason Owen, confirmed the split in a statement that read, "Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage. This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time." In 2007, there were reports that Twain and Lange were having marital troubles but they remained together and seemed to pull through the rumors. No official reason has been given for the split.

Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, met in 1993 and were married six months later. The couple welcomed a son, Eja D’Angelo, in August 2001. Twain moved out of the spotlight to Tour-de-Peliz, Switzerland in 2000. She has said, "I needed a break, physically and mentally. I needed to leave behind the whole ‘Shania’ thing and be myself." As for her relationship with Lange she has said, "Our love has always been based on friendship and compatibility." She did add, "We are very different."

Twain has a new perfume and a new album set to be released this year. She has said in the past that being in the spotlight is difficult for her. Twain said in an interview, "I struggled a lot internally with my fame, and coping with it has been very difficult." She added, "I’m not naturally a spotlight person ... [But] I don’t mind being the center of attention in a controlled, comfortable environment." Twain is currently working on songs for her new album. She has received five Grammy awards, 27 BMU Songwriting awards, and to date has sold over 65 million albums worldwide.
