Shame

It's A Lot Easier Sticking With Smith
My name was Smith
Then I did something shameful
So I changed my name to Jones
People who knew me as Smith
Refused to call me Jones

So I moved
There people called me Jones
Then I did something shameful
So I changed my name to Clark
People who knew me as Jones
Refused to call me Clark

So I moved
There people called me Clark
Then I did something shameful
So I changed my name to Burke
People who knew me as Clark
Refused to call me Burke

So I moved
Back to where I started
I changed my name back to Smith
Time had passed
I no longer felt shame
There was no one who knew me as Clark
There was no one who remembered me as Jones
Nor did anyone know me as Burke

I no longer did things that were shameful
It was a lot easier
Just
Sticking with Smith
