Shadow Realm: Chapter Two
Lilith Cadwell, a seventeen year old girl who has always been able to see things normal people can't, suddenly she meets a mysterious young man who turns out to be the King of Demons. He takes her to the place where Demons and Angels have been fighting for over a thousand years, The Shadow Realm.
It was half past twelve when Ms. Cadwell and Lilith finally reached Mrs. Livingston’s house. Mrs. Livingston’s house was easy to tell from the others on the street. It had strange statues of odd looking mermaids and fairies on the front lawn that looked more like imps then attractive magical beings. The trees were sculpted into disturbing woodland creatures and clusters of out of place brightly colored flowers were scattered everywhere around the garden that added to its ugly ghastliness. On the other hand Mrs. Livingston was very proud of her garden and kept on complaining incessantly to the Mayor that she should have won "The Most Beautiful Garden" award, in the end the Mayor created a second award called "The Most Eccentric Garden" just to shut her up.
Ms. Cadwell strolled up the yellow stone path to the front door and rung the door bell, in less then 2 seconds a round woman wearing a pastel blue dress too tight for her with bouncy fake blonde curls swung the door open with a frightening grin on her face.
"Elaine! Lilith!" Mrs. Livingston Shrieked as she ushered the two into her home. Inside the house was the same as outside; dreadful, the walls were painted a disgusting powder pink with bright yellow polka dots everywhere except for Gerard’s room. All the furniture in her house has was as weird as every thing else, there was a moldy green lounge set and strange oak coffee tables were placed in peculiar places with blue doily’s all over them. The house smelt of toffee which was its only good point. Lilith sat in her usual seat when she had to come here, a deep blue couch in the corner of the lounge room. Mrs. Livingston disappeared into a room right next door to the lounge room, the kitchen, and came back with an assortment of sweets and tea. Ms. Cadwell sat on one of the green lounges and Mrs. Livingston sat opposite her on a vomit yellow wooden rocking chair that had an old dusty rainbow blanket draped over the back of it.
"Ooooh Elaine have I got news for you..." Mrs. Livingston started handing Ms. Cadwell a cup of tea.
This was Lilith’s cue to zone out and think of much bigger matters. She had just recently discovered a powerful summoning spell that summoned a range of different mythical creatures that included Dragons, Harpies and Griffins. She was excited to try it out but of course it was hard to find a place where a girl could really let go and go crazy with magic. Suddenly Gerard kicked the door open with a scowl on his face, when he saw he had quests he looked as if he was expecting them to bow at his feet.
"Oi, what‘re YOU doing in ma’ house?!" Gerard said crudely, in his weird put on accent when he discovered Lilith sitting in the corner.
"Obviously you’re directing that question at me, Gerard. It’s quite hard to tell since you only speak idiot. " Lilith replied venomously.
Gerard went red in rage and was probably about to scream ‘Get outta ma’ house!’ at her (which she would have of gladly obliged to, of course, if it got her out of that house) but Mrs. Livingston stopped him with a deadly glare that only a fat lady in pastel blue dress could.
"I’m sorry, Lilith dear," Mrs. Livingston said, "He’s just upset that you don’t like him, since he has had a crush on you for some time now."
Gerard’s face went even redder than before. He gawked at the fact that his own mother told the girl he liked that he’s had a crush on her for ages. Lilith stared at Gerard with her icey gaze and slowly thought, well that explains a lot. After five minutes of awkward silence Gerard quietly (well as quietly as an embarrassed teen could) slipped out of the lounge room and into his own room while Mrs. Livingston and Ms. Cadwell continued their conversation for another 20 minutes. Finally Ms. Cadwell had enough of analyzing Mrs. Livingston and made her farewells. As Ms. Cadwell and Lilith left, Mrs. Livingston kissed them on the cheek and said; "See you soon!" which Lilith hoped wasn’t too soon.
On the drive back home Ms. Cadwell told her daughter Mrs. Livingston has decided to go on a diet because she is desperate to get more male attention, but Lilith couldn’t care less. It was still raining out side and something caught Lilith’s eye. A young man about eighteen was standing in the rain his medium length black hair was dripping wet just like the rest of him. He was dressed in a long sleeved black top and black skinny leg jeans that clung to his slender but toned frame. He was incredibly handsome and radiated an iridescent glow that highlighted his features but it also seemed to warn her of how dangerous he really was. He was the first boy to ever captivate Lilith and all he was doing was just breathing. What really interested her were his eyes, even though he was a bit into the distance, a pair of blood red eyes stared at the car as if he could see her and her mother inside it. She could have sworn he smiled at her when she noticed him but before she could take a second look the car lurched forward and left the young man behind. There was no second guessing it. The boy she had seen was a demon, she had seen many demons during the years but this one interested her more then the others, she was infatuated with him. He didn’t look like other demons, the other demons didn’t look human at all; most had horns, extra limbs or wings, warts and other unpleasant things all over their bodies, most had slime or blood dripping from their mouth and they came in all different shades of unpleasant colors. Demons took many different forms but she never saw one so human or so handsome. Before she realized it her mother was pulling into their driveway. For the rest of the day Lilith searched through books to find anything that even resembled this young man, but she found nothing. When her mother said good night to her she couldn’t sleep because she just couldn’t stop thinking about him and just thinking about him was enough to make her swoon. Only one question seemed to revolve around her head that night.
Who was he?
