Shadow Realm: Chapter Three

Lilith Cadwell, a seventeen year old girl who has always been able to see things normal people can't, suddenly she meets a mysterious young man who turns out to be the King of Demons. He takes her to the place where Demons and Angels have been fighting for over a thousand years, The Shadow Realm.
Lilith was five years old when she realized she could see demons and angels. Well not really, she always knew she could see them but when she was five she finally understood what they were. She even had a friend that was a demon cat called Kaius; he looked like a normal black cat to everyone else but to Lilith he was a large tiger looking creature the size of a small dog with fluffy long, pointed ears, a jagged tail with a point at the end of it and was slender with long powerful legs with a heavy metal ring on each of them. Kaius never took form of a mortal because he said it was scary getting chased by crazy females who thought he was incredibly good-looking. Kaius disappeared after Lilith’s tenth birthday without a word.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!" Lilith’s mother sung in a high piercing voice, to a half asleep Lilith.
"Mum, you know I hate my birthday. I also especially hate your singing," grumbled an irritated Lilith under the covers of her warm bed.
"Come on Lilith, you’re seventeen now, get out of bed and come downstairs, there’s a person who wants to stay in the rental room I want you to meet…NOW LILITH!" Ms. Cadwell shouted and muttered under her breath where she went wrong raising her daughter. The rental room had been in the paper for over a month now. Since the house was so big they could rent it out a few times a year.
Lilith slowly rose out of her bed 15 minutes after her mother had woken her, something felt wrong though. Everything seemed to move slower then normal, sounds were louder, colors were brighter and it seemed all her senses had been strengthened. She put it into the back of her mind, must just be a one off thing. Seventeen, she thought, something’s not right.
Lilith changed the singlet top she was wearing into a well fitting aqua t-shirt but kept on her loose black pants she had worn to bed last night. She ambled down stairs with her hair freely trailing behind. Even if she just woke up and with little effort of getting ready, she looked stunning. Her mother was sitting in the kitchen talking with someone. She was talking to a boy about a year older then Lilith with messy black hair that was slightly spiked. He was wearing a black and grey hoodie and a red, white and black t-shirt underneath with blue jeans. When he turned around to look at her she saw red ruby eyes looking back at her and the handsome face she had been dreaming about endlessly each night.
"Ah, Lilith, this is Devin Cole. He saw our add in the newspaper for the room and came to inquire about it. Devin this is my daughter Lilith, she just turned seventeen today." Ms. Cadwell said happily looking at the both of them continuously. You would expect Ms. Cadwell to be more enthusiastic about Lilith’s birthday then a person wanting to rent a room but she wasn’t, that’s because Lilith hated her birthday and always had since her tenth birthday so Ms. Cadwell decided to leave it alone.
"Nice to meet you Lilith," said the young man. His voice was like a love song that got stuck into your head that twirled around your mind endlessly and constantly reminded you of its beauty. But she had to focus on the matter at hand, not his charming voice.
"Nice to meet you too, Devin," she said with a smile that could captivate any person and he returned the same smile, even her mother seemed to blush. Lilith knew what her mother was thinking and so did Devin, her mother was thinking; such a perfect couple. There was something more about this boy than he was letting up.
"Well anyway, come with me Devin, I’ll show you to your room," Ms. Cadwell said leading away the young man. He looked back at Lilith while leaving he smiled at her, not a normal smile a mischievous smile like he was saying, catch me if you can!
After Ms. Cadwell left Lilith was left alone with her thoughts. She thought about his name, it really didn’t sound right. Devin Cole. He didn’t really look like a Devin…more like a Devil. She frowned and lent back on a kitchen table chair. It’s a fake name, she thought. Suddenly the phone rang it surprised Lilith so much she nearly fell backwards but a pair of strong hands held the chair up, she tilted her head backwards to see Devin’s deep red eyes looking back at her.
"You should be more careful," he said in his sweet dark voice.
Ms. Cadwell grabbed the phone in the other room and seemed to be immersed in conversation; Lilith decided to take the opportunity to question the young man while her mother was busy. Lilith steadied her self while the young man kept his hands on the back of the chair she looked forward trying not to look at his face.
"You’re name isn’t really Devin, is it Demon?" Lilith said in a low voice. She could tell the boy’s face was smiling. He slowly lent down so that his mouth was to her ear, he was so close she could feel his warm breath on her neck.
"You’re right; I’m known as Aeron and please, call me ‘Mr. Demon’." He let out a low chuckle and left her in awe at the kitchen table. She got up from the table and hurried upstairs to check the name Aeron in her books, when she got into her room she looked at herself in the mirror to check how red her cheeks were she noticed that a thin strip of her hair on the side of her head had been tied up into a long braid. She went bright red at the fact that she didn’t even notice that a demon had braided her hair, but it wasn’t a normal braid it was perfect. She took a red hair band and tied up the end of it so that it wouldn’t fall out. She calmed herself and grabbed a book and flipped through it but there was no mention of a demon called "Aeron."
Though there was a whole story about the king of demons Lucifer which she found frightfully intriguing.
"You won’t find me in there," said Aeron, "also Lucifer isn’t alive anymore."
She swung round to see the demon sitting on her window sill smiling.
"You should knock before you enter a ladies room," She said with a scowl that was returned by a cold smile. He knocked on the window and entered through it.
"Happy?" he inquired.
"Not at all!" she retorted, flustered by the sudden intrusion.
"But you said to knock before entering, and I did. I even braided your hair for you what is there not to be happy about?" the cold smile remained on his lips.
Her cheeks remained flushed but there was a cold glare in her eyes.
"What do you mean by ‘Lucifer isn’t alive anymore’? That means there’s no king of the demons now, doesn’t it?" Lilith questioned the demon further.
"Oh. There is a King, it just isn’t Lucifer. The one who took his life is now King."
"And who took his life?"
There was no reply. Just a smile. A smile that sent her heart racing. She took a step back as he took a step forward, soon her back was to the wall and he had pinned her to it. He leant in slightly and slipped his arm around her waist which made her tremble. His red eyes stared into hers and they softened.
"You know, I’ve been alive a very long time, but I’ve never found something as fascinating as you. You’re mortal yet you can stand up to a demon, the King of demons no less and you are also extremely gorgeous."
Lilith could feel herself getting lost in his eyes; the rich color seemed to lure her into a trance. Aeron’s words seemed to swirl inside her head as the somber lullaby of his voice seemed to steal her heart with every word. She felt light headed then everything went black.
