Shadow Realm: Chapter Seven
Lilith Cadwell, a seventeen year old girl who has always been able to see things normal people can't. Suddenly she meets a mysterious young man who turns out to be the King of Demons. He takes her to the place where Demons and Angels have been fighting for over a thousand years, The Shadow Realm.
After eating her fill, Lilith decided to wonder off alone through the castle. Acanthus and Idril told her they would meet with her later and that went there separate ways. After several minutes Lilith found herself walking down a large hall decorated with colourful silks and all kinds of different treasures. The floor was made of a white marble that had gold swirls in the stone. The ceiling was painted a beautiful majestic blue that seemed to seep royalty through the hall. On the other side of the hall was a massive pair of Mahogany doors that were a shade darker then the other doors in the Castle. The doors had large brass handles and with a little effort pushed the large doors open. Inside was a room even bigger then the hall she was just in. Large bookshelves were in rows all throughout the room, the bookshelves reached all the way to the ceiling and were packed with old looking leather bound books in all different color. This must be the royal library Leon spoke of, thought Lilith walking further into the room. At the end of the library was around five or six extremely big wooden desks that looked like antiques you would find in an old furniture shop. Opposite the row of desks were three large plush green lounges. Lilith was amused by the thought that demons would actually read books as well as intrigued as to what demons read about. After some time of looked through the shelves Lilith found two books of her interest. One was called ‘Advanced Elemental Magic’ and the other was a comprehensive guide on the inhabitants of Lemirẽ Ancalímon , which meant Shadow Realm. The encyclopedia included information on Angels, Demons, Vampires, Elves, Dwarves, Ghosts, Zombies, Wyverns, Dragons, Unicorns, Wraiths, Sprites, Werewolves, Valkyries, Sirens, Chimaeras, Harpies, Fairies, Trolls, Ogres, Goblins, Warlocks and everything else Lilith could think of. Swinging herself down onto one of the green lounges she opened the spell book she had found. Out of nowhere a man appeared from behind one of the bookshelves. Startled, Lilith sat up quickly to take a closer look at the man. He was tall and his skin was a pale white that seemed to shimmer luminously when light hit it, his hair was long and like liquid silver that flowed over his shoulders. He had sapphire blue eyes, high cheek bones and long pointed ears. His thin frame was adorned with a pale silver tunic. He was the first elf Lilith had ever seen and he took her breath away. The elf cocked his head sideways like a bird, scanning the young woman he saw before him.
"You must be Lilith, I’ve heard quite a bit about you from his highness and Chronos." The elf said sitting down opposite her, his voice was deep and like velvet with a slight accent.
"I see you know my name but I do not know yours" replied Lilith indignantly. A small smile crept to the elf’s lips.
"I’m sure you’ve heard of me. My name is Genesis, I am Idril’s and Acanthus’s uncle and also the last of the demon commanders."
"Ah! You raised Acanthus and Idril? Are they also elves? Acanthus told me he stopped ageing at 53, what does he mean by that?"
"Oh my, you certainly have a lot of questions," Genesis mused chuckling slightly, "Yes I raised them and yes they were once elves."
"Once? Aren’t they elves now?"
" Yes and No…they died when they were 53, hence what Acanthus said."
Lilith couldn’t quite grasp what he meant by ‘died’ if they had died then why would they be walking around? Talking to her? Dread gripped Lilith’s heart "they couldn’t have." She whispered, suddenly a comforting hand touched her shoulder it was Genesis. "I know it’s hard to believe but they did and were brought back to life."
"How did they die?!" Lilith blurted out.
"Gabriel the King of the Angels’ chief advisor Solomon killed them in cold blood. They refused to show him how to get into Havengaurd, a safe place where the magical creatures of Lemirẽ Ancalímon can go. Havengaurd is a large forest on the outskirts of both kingdoms, it is like a giant impenetrable labyrinth of trees that cannot be burned or cut down and it completely surrounds the settlements of the creatures inside it. It is also guarded by the hell hounds and hell cats but even they do not know the way in or out, only Acanthus and Idril can successfully guide people in and out. You see, Solomon is a disturbed and insane angel whose wings were taken away from him because he failed to show ‘compassion’. He believes that only angels have the right to live in Lemirẽ Ancalímon and that every other race other then the angels should be slaughtered and even his own kind has fled to HavenGaurd-"
"Why doesn’t Gabriel stop Solomon?" Lilith interrupted.
"Because, Solomon is controlling Gabriel by forbidden magic. The only one strong enough to break the spell is Aeron and he can’t get close to Gabriel without a swarm of angels attacking him."
"So basically, Solomon is a crazy lunatic bent on dominating your world and eradicating all the magical races except angels?"
"Basically…yes" Genesis replied, she could see a flash pain and sadness in his eyes. Lilith decided to drop the subject. She looked at the spell book and gasped the title was kidding this was advanced and powerful magic. Genesis smiled, "I shall take my leave Ms. Lilith, Aeron shall be arriving soon. Happy reading" He said and bowed slightly. He seemed to glide when he walked and he ‘glided’ right out the doors of the royal Library as quickly as he arrived.
