Shadow Realm: Chapter Four
Lilith Cadwell, a seventeen year old girl who has always been able to see things normal people can't, suddenly she meets a mysterious young man who turns out to be the King of Demons. He takes her to the place where Demons and Angels have been fighting for over a thousand years, The Shadow Realm.
Lilith slowly awoke in a room she had never been in before. The walls were painted in a lush blue and she was laying in a big bed fit for a King. The room was so big it was three times the size of hers. In the corner of the room was a massive wooden desk completely covered by paper and books. There was a large glass door that was open to a balcony on the far wall. White curtains moved freely in the wind. When she looked out side she saw a valley and a small settlement that looked like a village and bordering the village was a dark forest. Dumbstruck Lilith tried to sit up properly but something heavy was wrapped around her waist when she looked under the covers it was an arm and the arm was connected to the King of Demons, Aeron. The handsome demon was sleeping soundly and even when asleep he was extremely good looking but out of surprise Lilith lurched to the side and fell off the bed and with a loud thump landed on the floor. She had a proper look around the room from the floor and it seemed as if it was especially made for royalty.
"Didn’t I tell you to be careful?" came a familiar voice on the bed. Aeron looked over the side of the bed to see Lilith sprawled on her back on the floor; he couldn’t help but laugh at her. Her face went bright red.
"Where am I?! What happened…and more importantly WHY WAS I IN THE SAME BED AS YOU!?" Lilith shouted.
"You’re in the Shadow Realm. I brought you here after you fainted and I got lazy and laid down beside you and must’ve fallen asleep." He replied as if it was no big deal.
Aeron’s black hair was a bit messier then usual and he was wearing a thin white shirt with most of the buttons undone and loose dark blue jeans. He still looked half asleep but relaxed. The sun streamed in behind him and made him look angelic but he was far from an angel. Lilith got up quickly and saw she was wearing the same clothes as before she fainted, thank goodness, she thought. She looked around the room to find two doors one went into a massive bathroom the other went to a giant closet filled with a variety of clothes. Lilith frowned and grabbed a pair black jeans and a long sleeved white top with a red splatter design on the front (which she hopes was not blood), it also had a very open neck and she quickly changed into them. The jeans were a bit long so she had to fold the ends up and the top was a bit too long and looked like a very short dress one sleeve hung off her shoulder. Even though she was wearing Aeron’s clothes they looked very nice on her. When she walked out of the wardrobe Aeron was staring at her from the bed his red eyes surveyed her and he suddenly smiled.
"My clothes look good on you." He chuckled. She blushed and pouted at him. He walked to the closet and grabbed a long black jacket that was completely ruined at the ends. He stood in front of her and waited for her to ask what she was dying to ask.
"So what am I doing here?"
"You’re my guest," He replied calmly.
"Guest?"
"Yes, Guest."
"Why?"
"Because I want to know more about you."
Suddenly Lilith remembered the conversation they had before she fainted. She went red in the face and tried to look away but Aeron wouldn’t let her.
"You want to know more about me, yet I know nothing about you. It doesn’t seem fair too me," Lilith said looking at him.
"What would you like to know?" he said tilting his head to the side.
She opened her mouth but before she could say anything a boy with pointed ears and curly golden hair barged through the door.
"Ah. Sire!" the boy squealed. The boy looked about seven years old and had a high pitched voice.
"What is it, Acanthus?" Aeron said dully, he looked quite upset that this elf boy had interrupted Lilith’s and his ‘quality-get-to-know-you’ time.
"Lionel is attacking the southern wing of the castle," The elf boy known as Acanthus said hurriedly. Aeron scowled and walked off through the door which Acanthus burst in from without a word.
"Who is Lionel?" Lilith asked the elf boy. Acanthus spun round and gaped at her for awhile.
"Uh…um…L-l-lionel is…one of t-the three angelic c-c-commanders." Stuttered Acanthus.
Lilith looked at the elf boy carefully and noticed his skin was a grey color and he had red rings around his eyes like he had been crying. She smiled cheerfully at him which made him gape even more.
"My name is Lilith, was it…Acanthus?"
"Yes…" he replied hesitantly. This was the first time she saw anything like him. Before she could ask why he was in the kingdom of demons the room suddenly shook and all of a sudden the ceiling collapsed. Lilith had practiced magic in her room for years but never had a real chance to use it. Light flickered through her blue eyes as she muttered an incantation.
"Uruviel Ancalimë," she muttered and blue light swirled around the chunks of falling ceiling the blue light spun faster and before it fell on her and Acanthus it deteriorated, Uruviel Ancalimë was a spell that turned non-living matter into dust. Acanthus looked shocked and turned to her, remnants of magic light danced through her eyes like lightening. She smiled at the elf boy who was completely stunned.
"Mistress Lilith, You’re amazing!" Acanthus hollered. A smile appeared upon her lips.
"Acanthus I want you to lead me to the southern wing, I want to see Aeron."
Acanthus nodded, he took her hand and lead her through to a large hallway lined with a red carpet with jewels and ornaments hanging from the walls. This truly was a castle fit for a king. Acanthus lead her down many more hallways until it lead to a half destroyed hall that was splattered with blood. In the middle of it stood Aeron with a half dead angel laying limply at his feet. Blood dripped from Aeron’s hands the angel wheezed for air grasping at Aeron’s shoes. Around Aeron laid many other corpses of angels.
"You came her Lionel; don’t beg for forgiveness since you’re the one who started it," Aeron grinned showing two demon like fangs. Lionel’s face was filled with sheer fear he tried to scream for mercy and then saw Lilith. Aeron followed Lionel’s gaze and when he saw Lilith he seemed to restrain himself. He frowned and turned away from Lionel and began to walk away, both Lilith and Lionel were surprised he spared the angels life. Lionel’s eyes widened and turned into an evil grimace. A weak magic light flickered through the angel’s eyes and a shot of white light erupted from a crystal around Lionel’s neck. Before Lilith realized she had muttered a spell as well.
‘Tamuríl Vanimedlë’ a protection spell. Blue light encased Aeron but it was a little too late a weak stream of the magic beam hit Aeron’s side. Aeron hissed and clutched his wound; he turned to face Lionel who was shocked that Aeron was still alive. This time it was Aeron’s turn to murmur a spell, red sparks erupted from his finger tips Lilith caught parts of the spell but couldn’t properly hear it. ‘Uruviel… Nargo… Telperiën’ she could tell it was like her deteriorating spell used to save her and Acanthus from the ceiling roof but this spell could turn living matter into dust. The red sparks twisted around the angel Lionel and appeared to be tearing him apart. His screams of pain filled the broken hall.
"Wait, Aeron don’t!" Lilith howled tears welling up in her eyes. Aeron looked at her and frowned then nodded, he muttered ‘Léralondë’ it was a word that meant cease in the magic language. The red sparks slowly faded away and left a passed out angel whose eyes had rolled into the back of his head. Aeron looked weakly at Lilith and collapsed into a heap on the floor.
"Didn’t I tell you to be careful?" came a familiar voice on the bed. Aeron looked over the side of the bed to see Lilith sprawled on her back on the floor; he couldn’t help but laugh at her. Her face went bright red.
