Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Lilith wondered back to only a few days before when she was in the ‘real world’ yet nothing there felt as real as I did here. It had been less than a week and she was swept up in a whirlwind of chaos. She wondered if anyone had noticed her gone or if her mother was worried, if she was even worried at all. Staring at herself intently she noticed something about her was different in her reflection. Since she hadn’t looked at herself lately she hadn’t noticed at all. Her eyes had darkened to a soft dark blue instead of the alarming ice cold they were before but the odd thing was around the Iris of her eyes was a ring of gold. She blinked a couple of times but the golden hue remained in her eyes. Frowning slightly she started to look around the bathroom but soon her eyes started to hurt as colours became brighter and noises louder. She remembered the morning of her birthday where the same thing happened, suddenly there was a knock at the bathroom door, the sound pounding in her head. Wincing she pushed the strange feeling of awareness way and opened the door. She expected to see Acanthus coming to get her for breakfast but when she swung the door open she came face to face with deep red eyes.
"Morning," Aeron said looking down at her, with a know it all grin planted on his face. She tried to hide the flush of red that was creeping across her face.
"Good morning... Your highness," she replied smiling slyly as Aeron’s face fell and his cheeks went red. Grabbing her cheeks he squished them gently and rested his forehead on hers.
"You shouldn’t say cute stuff like that... it makes me want to kiss you."
She couldn’t help but laugh and touch his ears and pull on them playfully. He leant closer and brushed his lips against hers. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled back.
"Your eyes have changed colour," He said in a matter-of-fact tone.
She smiled, "So they have."
Aeron smiled and inspected her eyes like he was viewing the most beautiful jewel in the world. Then he frowned, "Lilith… Do you know who your father is?"
Lilith was surprised by his question and stepped back out of his embrace, "Why do you ask?" she said suspiciously.
Aeron smiled sweetly and grabbed her hand and kissed it lightly, "Just wondering if you inherited your bizarre traits from your mum or from your dad." His smile spread into a grin as she tried to hit him but he moved to fast and was across her room in an instant.
"Unfair!" she hollered.
"Life is never fair," he replied darkly but the smile was still on his face. Though he was smiling, his eyes were so cold and unfeeling. Stepping back into the bathroom she shut the door and locked it. She was scared of him because in that instant he never looked more terrifying. Behind his eyes she could see the anger and malice. She never knew Aeron held such darkness in his heart and it scared her.
"Willow?" she heard Aeron’s timid voice on the other side of the door. She didn’t reply.
"What’s wrong?" he said tapping his finger on the door. She could hear the worry in his voice. Lilith opened the door and Aeron took a step back to peer at her.
"You scared me," she said calmly.
Realization crossed his face, "I see."
He turned around and went to walk away but she caught his arm, "Aren’t you going to ask me why?"
"I know why," He replied.
"No you don’t"
"Yes I do"
"Then tell me," she said indignantly and crossed her arms over her chest like a six year old.
Aeron looked at her calmly and pinched her cheeks, "I was once told that the eyes were the window to the soul… and it seems like you got a good view of mine."
Lilith tilted her head, "You’re half right."
"Oh? So what am I half wrong about?" Aeron said the corners of his mouth curling into a smile.
"I did look into your eyes and see something that scared me… but it wasn’t you soul. It was more like you were remembering a part of your life that made you…" she trailed off as she saw the hurt in his eyes.
"Made me what?"
"What happened to you to make you feel so…dark?" she asked, placing a hand on his cheek. Aeron was expressionless.
"That’s not something I want you to be burdened with," he smiled sadly and kissed her forehead, "I’m sorry for scaring you."
He tried to leave a second time but she wouldn’t let him, she grabbed his arm and yanked him back to face her. She reached up and grabbed his collar pulling his face to her level, "Not good enough," she replied and crushed her lips to his. At first he was stunned but soon he couldn’t help move against his own lips against hers. This kiss was unlike their previous one. That kiss was loving and a first for both of them but this kiss was too urgent and too passionate and he could feel himself losing his mind. Her lips felt hot against his, like water running over glass. His inner beast roared as he clutched the back of her neck and deepened the kiss. There was so much force behind the kiss that it had knocked Lilith back up against the wall. His lean arms snaked their way around her back, holding her in place against his body. His lips were warm, educated, and demanding; electricity shot through her in tremendous waves. Air was soon needed between the two, having Aeron break off the kiss and taking a step backwards.
"Unfair," he growled in a dark husky tone.
A devilish smirk crossed her face, "Love is never fair, Darling," she replied giggling.
He couldn’t help but smile at her. She was the most beautiful person he had ever met, she was so wonderful, so perfect. He loved her so much, in such a short amount of time she had become his world and most important treasure. He realised he couldn’t live without her and without the little knowledge she had she had fallen in love with him.
"How can you love me?" he whispered.
She looked at him shocked, "How could I not?"
"I’m a demon, Lilith!" he practically screamed it. Maybe it would be better if she wasn’t near him. She deserved more. More than him.
"I don’t care," she said simply, slightly pouting, "If I did would I be here? I don’t care what you may have done in the past I care about the you I see in front of me."
He narrowed his eyes, "You don’t even know who that is."
"I know that bad things have happened to you but I know it wasn’t your fault. I also know that you’re trying to save everyone in the Shadow Realm and I know with all my heart I love you."
Her slender fingers traced Aeron’s jaw line tenderly.
"I really do love you," she mumbled, "Your all I need."
He smiled gently and hugged her gently and she nuzzled into the crook of his neck, "Unfair," he whispered and could feel her smile against his neck.
