Seven Deadly Sins: Lust - Chapter Three

The daughters of Cacophony are singers without fear, and Liliai is among them. But one night out of the strip proved fatal. The next thing she remembered was... nothing. Although her father wouldn't let her forget... oh no. He'd make sure she'd remember everything and help her stay away from the fate her sister Wren had stumbled upon. But with the male in her way... how could she survive?

Book Two of Seven

Liliai’s eyes burst open and she sat up in the cold hospital bed. Three of her Sisters of Cacophony were standing at the foot of her bed, staring straight at her. Their smiles said that they knew who she was and her duty.

"Your father spoke of your arrival tonight. We came to greet you." Mara said softly.

"We didn’t embrace you because of this…" Beth added, while her grin extended wider, "But because of your talent with your voice."

The daughters of Cacophony are singers without peer, but their harmonies are not their main claims to fame. It is the damage their songs can do to the mind that causes their kindred concern. This is why they are nicknamed the "Sirens".

"Now children, let us play and bring mortals to their knees."

The hospital filled with light, gentle voices, but they were in a language that humans couldn’t comprehend. One after another, patient after doctor after nurse fell to the ground covering their ears. The daughters, who included Liliai, sung a potent song, promising pain.

Detective Brink rubbed his aching and pounding temples. "So wait… you’re telling me that you’re the only one who can stop… the woman, who is killing all these people because they perform the sin lust?"

The man who’d been seated across the table, simply nodded and smiled. "Yes, that is relevant."

"And if you don’t get to her in time, the killings will continue/" Brink asked, staring directly at the man.

He nodded again. "I’m her other half, Chastity."

"And your name is?"

"Raptor." He grinned, showing off great dental work.

The smile was lethal and it forced a gulp from the detective.

"So where are we going to start looking? She could be—" Brink paused, noticing that Raptor wasn’t watching him anymore, "Hey! Are you even listening?"

Raptor stared at the television, watching the important news. Brink turned his attention, as well, to WCCO news, who was revealing a shocking story.

"Just moments ago, police investigated a local hospital under a distress call. It was reported that a woman in room 666 was traumatized from amnesia, got up today with three others and started singing. The victims state that after the singing began, their heads started to pound. Paramedics have confirmed that over half of the hospital shows internal damage to organs and severe memory loss. The woman supposedly responsible for all this is missing."

Raptor turned back to the detective, anger blooming passionately in his eyes.

"That is where we start looking. The daughters of Cacophony have already embraced Liliai and made their counter. Let’s go."

He stood abruptly and hurried to the door.

"Wait! Daughters of Cacophony? I thought you said the girl was the sin lust! Raptor… hold on!"

Brink grabbed his jacket and sprinted after the man with the long silver hair.

"Hurry my son, Liliai is disappearing. When you are close, the burn mark on your arm will tingle."

Raptor heard his father speak softly inside his head.

"How will I know it’s her?" He asked, looking to the sky.

"Oh my son… you’ll know, trust me."
