It was much more cozier, comfortable and the best part about this setting up a home theater, was that they could have crunchy munchies without having to pay for them!

In case you have bought a home theater system or are thinking of buying a home theater one, reading a bit further would give you the requisite information on how to set up a home theater.

Steps for Setting up a Home Theater

Make Room
Obviously when you think of setting up a home theater, you need to prepare the room you have zeroed in for installing the home theater. If you do not have a room which is properly outfitted, even the snazziest and the best of the home theater systems can prove to be a damp squib. So for those who have a lot of money to spend, sky is the limit. But for those who cannot afford to spend a lot on the room after spending on the home theater system, they can begin with shortlisting a rectangular room with the least doors as possible. In case that's not possible, map out a rectangular space within an oddly shaped room to treat that area as the home theater. For absorbing errant sound waves, add a carpeting or an area rug or upholstered furniture to the room. Drapes, shelves, paintings, etc. will again serve the same purpose of absorbing the unnecessary noise. Make sure that the room is dark. But a totally dark room would strain your eyes while you watch the movie, so dim lights would be just about perfect.

Components of the System
Selecting the components of the system is a pretty relative matter and is a question of personal preferences. So accordingly you can go for flat screen TV's, CRT TVs, High Definition TV's or Plasma TV's, a front projection or a rear projection TV. The same applies for home theater speakers, receivers, video output, surround sound formats, amplifiers and so on. You would naturally buy anything that suits your requirements, so that its best for you. Remotes are another thing to consider. Remotes come in various types these days.

Actual Set Up
After compiling all this, lets actually get to connecting these components of home theater system. Basically the idea is to create an impression as close to an actual theater. So the display should be in the front as you enter and not on either sides, which will make people strain their necks. And the display should be at the eye level. The speakers would be better off mounted on stands or wall mounted. They give a great sound when set like that. Especially, the 3 front speakers should be in the line with the TV. They should be parallel to the seating area. The 2 rear speakers would be placed opposite to each other on either side of the listeners, just above the ear level. The sub woofer would be perfect for the rumbling effect, if put on the floor behind the seating area or against a wall.

While you install and stack these components, it would be easy to operate, if there is at least a distance of 8 inches between the rear of the components and the wall or the rear of the cabinet. As receivers generate heat they either need a different shelf or enclosure or they should go at the top of the stack. Avoiding cluster of wires and bundling them near the main power chords. Finally before clipping the speaker wires to their final length, check if everything is alright and the system is sounding great and the picture quality is great.

I hope you did not find this process, of how to set up a home theater, very complicated. And the showroom or the store from where you bought the system would surely send someone over to help you in setting up the home theater system.

So have a rocking experience of watching the movie snuggling up at home alone, or with your near and dear ones! Its Show Time people!
