"Um, excuse me everyone" Violet said into the microphone. Immediately the room went quiet and everyone focused on her. She saw Andrew gesture anxiously for her to come down, she ignored him and took a deep breath.
"Thank you all for coming, and I hope you all had a good time. But this party is coming to an end, but first I want to say something," She looked around ", the engagement between me and Andrew is off. I found out something just now that has made me realize this is all wrong. I'm not sorry, because I know I'm doing the right thing. I just ask you not to hate me, if you do, then that's your own business". People stared at her, shocked, as she gave the microphone back to the woman, and climbed off the stage.
She was shaking, and her stomach was churning. Violet had never done anything like that before, and it was slightly exhilarating, dis-obeying her parents and shocking everyone. Andrew's jaw was hanging and he tried to dredge up some words to say, but nothing would come.
"I know about Star. I also know that you didn't do it to hurt me, you only wanted me to move on with my life and love someone else...you. And i suppose i should thank you, for making the pain go away temporarily. But I can't do that. I love Jasper, and I'm sorry to put you through this, but there are more people who would be happy to marry you. I don't want to hate you Andrew, but it's really hard right now. That's the only reason i didn't tell everyone what you did. I don't want to ruin your chance of getting married to someone you really love, like you did to me. So this is Goodbye Andrew" and she kissed him on the cheek and ran out the ballroom up to her room.
She passed her mum who had been looking for her.
"VIOLET!" her mum screamed and started to chase after her like she did when Violet was little, only no one was laughing this time. Violet reached her room and locked the door in time. Alexis banged on the door with her fist and shouted for Violet to come out. She had forgotten all elegance and sophistication. She was frantic and annoyed at her daughter and she wanted answers.
Violet dragged her suitcases out from the closet and started flinging clothes into it.
"Violet what are you doing?!" her mum shouted through the door.
"I'm doing what I should have done AGES ago!" was the only answer she got.
Violet filled up five suitcases and a gym bag, pulled her hair out of the uncomfortable bobby pins and unlocked her door. Her mum was red faced. She eyed Violet then glared at the suitcases.
"Where do you think you're going?!"
"I'm going to be free and do what i want to do" Violet grinned and pushed past her.
"PAUL!" she called.
"Yes princess?" the bodyguard answered half a minute later.
"Can you help me with these please?" she gestured to the suitcases and his eyes flickered down to them.
"Of course" he bent down and picked up three of them and the bag, and Violet followed him with the other two.
Alexis hurried after them.
"Paul! I demand you to stop right now!" she cried. Paul didn't even glance at her.
"My orders are to do what the princess wishes and to protect her. I am following those orders. Sorry" he winked at Violet and Violet grinned.
They pushed past the crowd of people that had gathered at the bottom of the stairs, out the door and dumped the suitcases in the boot of Violet's car.
"Thank you" she hugged Paul.
"It's fine princess. Just be safe. Unfortunately I can't come with you, or I would. But if you ever need me, I'm here, that's if you're parents haven't fired me" he smiled.
"They wouldn't dare. You're the best guard out of them all" she scowled. Violet had become attached to Paul and vice versa. It was slightly upsetting to be separating from him, especially as she had known him since she was thirteen. But she had to. If she wanted a happy life, she had to get away from tiaras and arranged marriages. She hugged Paul hard one last time and got into her car as everyone piled out the castle to watch.
She didn't care that they were all gossiping, she wouldn't see them again, and good riddance. She didn't care her parents would dis-own her either. As long as she was finally happy. There were garden lights glowing along the drive-way, and fairy lights wrapped around the gates. It was shame she was ruining such a pretty night, but then, it was her life.
Violet blew a kiss to her parents and drove out the gates. She grinned in the wing-mirror. From now on, she was going to choose how she acted. And who she fell in love with.

Jasper gulped down his drink; he was sitting on the sofa. Lindsay was cross-legged on the floor in front of him and they were watching Eastenders. Their parents were out having dinner in a new Italian restaurant. Lindsay sighed and got up to go to bed.
"I'm going to bed. You're more boring than my history teacher" she moaned and trumped up the stairs. Jasper scowled.
"Thank god for that". Her grabbed the control and changed the channel to watch Total Wipe-Out. It made him laugh, and right now he needed to laugh. It seemed his miserable moments were more frequent than before he had gone to see Violet. After he had come back, he had gone straight upstairs and sat in the shower. He had hoped he wash all traces of the visit out of his system, but all he succeeded in doing was making his skin blistery and red. No one knew where he'd been, but his moods had become worse. Resulting in him getting kicked out of university.
Five minutes later, the door bell rang. A second later someone was banging on the door. Confused, Jasper paused the TV (Sky Plus =]) and got up to answer it.
"God, dad, you don't have to knock the door off it hing-" he stopped as he opened the door. It wasn't his parents. It was Violet, in a beautiful and flattering if slightly shriveled dress. Her hair was trailing down her back, and she had a big bag handing off her shoulder, and a suitcase next to her feet. She stared at him for a moment, memorizing his expression. He rubbed his eyes. Was he dreaming? As if in answer to his thoughts, Violet grinned.
"Hey. Did you miss me?" She stepped forward, dropped the bag on the floor... and kissed him. It was a kiss that made Jasper wish he could record it, and then re-wind it over and over again. It was passionate and loving all wound into one. And Lindsay saw every second of it.
"Thank you all for coming, and I hope you all had a good time.
