Setting Out 24

Detectivesss
Kinda Short, but important. Thanks for the Comments! You're all amazing commenters, lol.

Violet glanced at Andrew. He was looking straight ahead, and it seemed, purposely ignoring her. She had no reason why. All day she had been quiet. Just thinking. And when she looked at Andrew, she came to a decision. She wasn’t sure, why or what had made her forget about her ‘supposedly’ engagement with Jasper. But she very much wanted to find out. So she was going to investigate. And hope that whatever she unearthed, had a reasonable explanation.

Violet started off with Andrew’s room. She made sure no one saw her slip inside. His room was clean, but then there were professional cleaners that took care of that. She looked around but couldn’t see anything that would be suspicious. Now that she was there, she couldn’t actually think of anything that would shed any light on the situation. Absent-mindly she walked around the room, once, twice, and on the third time she sighed and was about to leave, but she tripped over something. There was a yellow pages sticking out from underneath the drawers. She picked it up, sat down on the bed, and flicked through it.

The name Star was circled, and underneath there was a number. Violet ripped the page out and folded it into her pocket. Maybe later it would come in handy. Though why it was circled she had no idea. There was no indication as to what Star did, or even who she was. But if Andrew had circled it, it must be important.
She cast another look around, saw nothing else, and left.

Out in the hall there was a cleaner. She walked past him and downstairs into the Dining room. Andrew was sitting at the table, drinking a cup of tea. She sat down opposite him, and just stared at him. He glanced up, smiled then went back to drinking. She kept staring. He got fidgety and frowned.

"Yes Violet?" he asked.
She shook her head, but did not stop staring.
"Do you like Stars?"
Andrew’s head shot up and she saw him lick his lips.
"Stars?"
"Hmm hm, stars" she smiled.
"Not particularly no" he murmured.
"Ok" she chirruped and left.

Andrew stared at her back and started wondering if maybe the hypnotism had damaged her mind.

Andrew listened as Star told him, no she hadn’t seen or spoken to Violet since that night.
"Star-"he began but out of the corner of his eye saw Violet.
"No I don’t want my Tarot done" he said forcibly and put the phone down.

Violet raised an eyebrow.
"Just, a, call about tarot cards" he said quickly and walked off.
"Uh huh," Violet muttered, ", I don’t think so".
She made sure he was gone before she picked up the phone and pressed re-dial.

"Hello?" a female voice answered.
"Oh, hi"
"Hello? Who is this?"
"Um, you don’t know me, but I’m a… friend of Andrew"
"Oh. Ok"
"It’s meant to be a surprise, but we’re throwing him and Violet and Engagement party."
"Uh huh"
"Would you be so kind as to be there?"
"Me?"
"Yeah, he let slip that you and he are good friends"
"Really?" the woman sounded surprised. Violet was astounded that the lies were just coming and coming
"Yeah, please come. It’s in two days and it starts at eight"
"Err…ok"
"Oh and don’t tell Ja- I mean Andrew"
"Sure"
"Bye"
"Bye"

Violet hung up and stared at the phone. She was goooood! Now she just had to wake for the party and then she’d be able to find out all about Star. She went to have lunch, the whole time thinking; I’m a good detective!
