Set Up Your Bedroom On Your Own - It Is Not That Difficult
Your bedroom is the place where you spend a fair amount of quality time. It also has the potential to ensure the kind of day that follows - good or bad. Make sure you have only good days by setting it up well.
You have just bought that bedroom furniture you always wanted and it is going to arrive any moment. Having decided on what to buy wasn’t that difficult, was it? The salesman at the furniture store would have guided you on the type that you really liked and one that suits your tastes. Now that your purchase is coming home comes the hard part – where and how to place it? There is no one here to guide you, and you have to make your own decisions. Tough job? Not really, if you just put your mind to it a bit.
Does your bedroom face the sun or away from it? Whatever the feng shui enthusiasts may say, a simple fact is that a room that has the early morning sun’s rays streaming onto your bedroom furniture, is bound to fill your mornings with an energy unparalleled by anything else. If you are an early riser, you may be lucky enough to have a look at the rising sun. One look at the magnificent orange ball of fire and you will be so mesmerized by its sheer beauty and the energy it fills inside you that you will like to do it again, and again, and yet again. Not for nothing does the Indian art of Yoga have a special stance called the ‘Surya Namaskar’, or a salute to the rising sun. The ancients knew the energy of the rising sun and its inherent benefits, and learnt how to derive positive vibes from it.
The selection of your furniture has major implications in how your bedroom looks and feels. You could choose traditional bedroom furniture or modern platform beds. Did the furniture store salesman guide you to pick up a smart pair of matching side tables as well? If not, go for it now- the tables are extremely useful for keeping trinkets like your watch, jewelry, reading glasses, the book you’ve been reading before you go to bed etc. Use them to keep the night lamp and the glass of water you may need during the night or for your morning cup of tea.
Do you want your television inside the bedroom or out of it? It has its pros and cons. While exercising the former option will let you watch TV in bed in a more comfortable position, keeping it there will tend to hinder your normal conversation. If you do, you must keep the TV at a comfortable distance from your viewing area. If you have one of the modern LCD televisions, you can place it on a wall opposite your bed and save on space as well.
Space permitting, use a good sectional sofa pair to provide some comfortable seating during times that you may want to chit chat and not sit on the bed (it may not be the most comfortable of places to ‘sit’ on). If the space available is less, you could go in for bedroom chairs. Though less comfortable than the former, they will also do the job admirably well. A chair set would cost considerably less as well.
So you see, it wasn’t so tough after all. Come to think of it, setting up your home furniture is not that difficult a proposition provided you decide to go ahead with the job. After all, it is your fiefdom. Nobody is going to criticize you even if things are placed differently, so let your creativity flow.
