Senior Year Whirlwind - Chapter Seven

It's a senior year and Kacey is chief editor of the school newspaper but little does Kacey know her senior year might be her last year but it will be a total whirlwind when truth are revealed at the last minute! What should she do?!
He took me by my left hand and yanked me so hard that I fell against his chest with a thud. He then bent his head down and kissed me hard. His lips was so soft and it felt so right. I felt a feeling grow inside of me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my hand through his hair. I’ve always wanted to do that to him. He groaned and I moaned in response. When he pulled back though he held his devilish grin.

"You talk too much." He chuckled.

"But what I said earlier was the truth…" I mumbled.

"I know." He grinned. "I feel the same way." He replied.

"You do?"

"Yes I do." He pulled me around the waist closer to him. My heart skipped a beat. "I was an ass to you, wasn’t I?"

"Yes you were. I was miserable the last three weeks when you ignored me." I admitted.

He chuckled and kissed the top of her head. "I was missing you too and I felt miserable that three weeks that we didn’t talk too."

"Do you know the way back, Aaron?" I asked.

"Yes." He said. "You should know what Mr. Mattis had taught us in class. You could of found your way back."

"I was too god damn miserable to remember." I replied.

He put his hand in mine and walked me back to the camp where everyone was already getting ready to leave. Mr. Mattis walked up to me.

"Took you a while. I hope you found your way."

"With the help of Aaron I did." I answered him. Mr. Mattis nodded and led everybody back to their cabins.

That night I slept looking at the cabin ceiling. I couldn’t stop thinking about Aaron and how he had saved me. I have seriously fallen in love with him but I can not let him know that. All my girls were asleep already and most of them wanted to sleep with me so they scooted their bed up to mine and they slept that way. I slept in my one inch white tank top and in my lounge capris it was getting colder so I wrapped my blanket around me more but then I heard a noise outside. A faint rustle. Hopefully it’s not another bear I thought but then I heard a faint knock on the cabin walls. After one knock it became two knocks and it started to spread across the cabin. What the hell is that noise? I sat up silently and looked around. All the girls were asleep. I took out my flashlight and turned it on thinking maybe things were falling from the cabin walls. I flashed it around and saw nothing. Weird. The noise had stopped by now. I turned my flash light off and laid back down and then I heard a sound outside it was calling my name.

"Kaaaacceeeyy….come….look….outside…..Kacceeeyyy…" It said softly. My body tensed. It went on for five minutes before I finally got the guts to glance out the window above me. There I saw a bunch of boys snickering. They were trying to scare me! Fine! Two can play that game.

I threw the covers off softly and walked out of the cabin. I didn’t know that Aaron was waiting outside for me and when I opened the door he covered me by the mouth with his hand and put me against the cabin wall as he leaned into me.

"Hello, Gorgeous." He whispered. He kissed my nose. I bit his hand. "Ow."

"What are you doing here?" I whispered back.

"I wanted to see you." He grinned.

"We will get in trouble if they knew you were in the girls territory and you let your boys stay up too." I glanced around. Aaron grinned.

"We wanted to have some fun with the girls. We scared ya bad, didn’t we?" Aaron gave a small quiet laugh. The boys snickered and high five each other. I glared at Aaron.

"No you didn’t. I saw you guys outside." I shot back.

"Sure you did." He laughed.

"Yes I did."

"You’re in denial." He said as he tightened his grip around my waist.

"No I am not." I mumbled and tried to push away from him. My heart couldn’t stop doing flips.

"Kacey?" Teresa rubbed her eyes as she looked around with her flashlight. "Why is everyone up?"

Aaron let me go then. "Good night." He kissed me on the cheek before ushering his boys to bed. They all groaned but followed.

"Lets go back to bed, Teresa." I said.

"I need to go to use the bathroom." Teresa replied with her blankie in hand.

"Ok, lets go." I used her flashlight and we made our way to the bathroom. When Teresa was done she walked out and followed me back to bed. There I laid awake again smiling like a dimwit. I was absolutely delusional but I couldn’t help it. Aaron is too sweet.

The next morning everybody ate breakfast in the hall. They sat in their own groups. I could feel Aaron looking at me every now and then but I didn’t want to look. Melissa however was looking at Aaron then at me. She was still angry over the fact that Aaron broke up with her. She use to getting what she always wanted. Her mother had taught her how to get what she wanted. That’s how her mother had her father marry her. She seduced him but it seems Melissa can’t get Aaron no matter what. It angered her and she wants what she can’t get and that is Aaron.

"Ok, Counselors. We are going to go around observing cabins. Who ever has the cleanest cabins will be the winner of this field trip and receive recognition." Mr. Mattis spoke.

"Mr. Mattis? Can I go use the bathroom?" Melissa asked.

"Yes, hurry up." He said.

"Mr. Mattis? May I use the bathroom as well?" Aaron asked. I raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, hurry up to, Johnson. We have a long day ahead of us." Mr. Mattis waved him off. Aaron left as well.

Aaron stood up and left after Melissa left as well. A meanwhile later Melissa came back with a smug look on her face. I thought it was weird but didn’t say anything. After a while Aaron came in after her. He had a grim look.

"Ok Class lets go around now." He hauled everybody up and we all headed for the first cabin…maple.

Mr. Mattis took down notes and each time he came out he would either nod or shake his head. When he finally reached mine he walked in. It took a long long while before Mr. Mattis and his companion came out with a strict look. My heart stopped. What had happened?

"Kacey, come inside the cabin. We would like you to explain something." He said softly. Melissa snickered from behind her.

I walked in to find that on one of the little girl’s cot was a dead rat. I covered my mouth immediately and looked at Mr. Mattis.

"Care to explain this?" Mr. Mattis was angry.

"It was not me. I wouldn’t do it to scare anyone." I pleaded.

"Then why is it in your cabin?" He said his voice dangerously low.

"I do not know! You can’t put this blame on me! I would never harm anyone!" I cried out feeling frustrated.

"This will not do, Kacey. We will discuss this when we are back at school. Till then I do not want to see another of these nasty pranks." He angrily said and picked up the dead rat and threw it into a garbage bag.

Mr. Mattis and his companion walked out of the room shaking their heads and I followed behind closed to tears but held my head high. I knew it was Melissa’s idea. She did this to me so I would get into trouble. She’s going to torture me until Aaron goes back to her.

Aaron walked up to me as we walked to the next cabin. "What happened?" He whispered.

"Nothing." I mumbled and looked away from him.

"Tell me, Kacey. You can trust me." He gently touched my arm to reassure me and just that touch did make me feel much better.

"They saw a dead rat in my cabin and said I put a prank on the little kids and that it was one of my nasty pranks but you know I would never do that, right?" I asked for reassurance. I needed someone to trust me desperately.

"Yes I do." His eyes told me he did. My heart warmed and I nodded feeling a little bit better but not entirely.

"Who would do such a thing?" I asked looking up at him.

"Probably someone who hates you." He shrugged. Who would hate me? The only one I could think of is Melissa.

"Melissa?" I said it into a question.

"Maybe." Was all he said.

"After checking the cabins we have come a conclusion and Christie and her group had won this award. Excellent! It was clean and neat. Well done." They handed them a bag of candies and an award.

The little girls in the group cheered and the hugged their Counselor who smiled broadly. "Thank you, Mr. Mattis." She said.

He nodded. "Today, we are going to go wall climbing. The wall is build outside but is 50 yards high. The kids will be going on the 10 yard high one though." He smiled and everybody headed outside eager to learn how to wall climb. I was nervous because I hate heights.

I fell at the age of ten off an apple tree. I didn’t know how to land and landed head first. Luckily instead of breaking my neck I broke my arm. I snapped it out of place. They had to give me a cast for a month. Ever since then I became scared of heights.

As they filed up in a line in front of the wall all the kids jumped around eager to get on it and I was sweating horribly.

"We are going to demonstrate the right way of wall climbing and the wrong way of wall climbing. Now, I’m going to go up there and climb down. Be quiet because when I am above you you would not be able to hear me so well. I want you to look."

Mr. Mattis walked up the steps and put on the proper equipment before heading down the wall. He started down jumping and pushing himself off the wall. "This is how we do it." He jumped again and straightening his legs in time for another hit against the wall there he bent it and then straightened it. "The wrong way of doing this..." he pushed a little off the wall and then came back smacking himself against it. "This is the wrong way."

Everyone went up and done it. Damon was the second one to climb and he came down good. He was always good in sports. Melissa hesitated but did it perfectly she jumped around happily and hugged Damon. "I did it!" she smiled at him. He nodded his approval.

Soon the line grew shorter and I became more scared. I found it harder to breathe now and I wring my fingers around.

"Are you okay, Gorgeous?" He asked me and took a step forward.

"Uh...yes." I hesitated.

"Don’t worry. Just do what he did and it would be over in a second." He assured me and kissed the top of my head.

"What if I can’t make it? What if the string can’t hold me and I fall?" I muttered and my voice shook with fear.

"You are fretting too much. You’ll be fine." He chuckled. "I’m going to go and just think that after you climb and when you come down I will be waiting for you." Then he turned and went up the steps to climb the wall.

I looked as he climbed the wall and climb down swiftly and nicely as if he was made for wall climbing. It was my turn....
