Self-confidence Building Exercises

Confidence is within all of us. All we need to do is to just brush it up a little. If you lack confidence, then self-confidence building exercises can be fruitful for you.
Self-confidence building exercises are not only beneficial during our job and in academics. It has a vital role to play throughout the life. Confidence is also responsible for strong relationships and social life. It is one of the most important ingredients of personality development. So, it is essential to have confidence right from the beginning. Confidence knows no boundaries of age, caste, creed or sex. Everyone must have a confident approach to get to the top of the ladder of success.

Nowadays, we have many courses and classes which provide the techniques. Also, innumerable books and videos are available to strengthen our confidence. Apart from all this, Internet also has vast knowledge on confidence building. There are many effective exercises available at hand, if followed religiously. To make these exercises effective you must throw away all your negative thoughts and build a positive aura around you.

Some of the common problems related to confidence are, in-confident to begin a conversation, fear of public speaking, unable to say "no" and lack of self-esteem. Do you find difficulty in getting out of these problems? Don't worry! There is certainly a way out. Practice, practice and practice, and for sure you will get back your lost confidence. Here are some helpful suggestions for self, adults, women, and children to practice.

Build Confidence
  • Similar to any physical exercises, there are a few confidence building exercises that help enhance your inner strengths. But, here we are not talking about physical strength rather talking about inner strength. Start writing the events which made you happy throughout the day in a journal. It may be about a compliment, an appreciation or a gift. You can also go down the lane of memories and jot down those lovely events which you would never ever wish to forget. This will give you a feel of good things happening in your life.
  • Next step is to challenge yourself to face those situations that you have been avoiding. For example, fear of facing interviews. Take an appointment and go for the interview and observe your progress. Note down the positive achievements.
Exercises for Adults
  • Change your perspective and look at the things from a brighter aspect. Try to search out positivity everywhere. If you are not good at oration, focus on writing. Stop cribbing about negative things, instead focus on positive things on which you have good command.
  • Try to be a social butterfly. Attend more parties and social gatherings. Mingling around will give you self-confidence. Don't give up; at least till you start feeling comfortable with strangers.
  • Give more attention to your looks and health. Remember, first impression is the last impression. Your outlook says a lot about you. Give a change to your looks, outfits, hairstyle and body language. Engage yourself in exercises or yoga to keep yourself fighting fit, and meditation to keep your mind cool and calm.
Exercises for Women
  • Self-confidence in women come from what they do. Stop categorizing yourself into low-confident zone. Self-confidence can be regained in women just by focusing on what you are good at, accept your gray areas and be what you are.
  • Be in action and you will get back your lost confidence. Participate in everything, if you love to play, go for it, give presentations, talk to strangers and share your views in public. You might have to face failures sometimes, but don't give up. Accept your mistakes and move ahead. Self-confidence in women lies in trying new things every time.
  • Give importance to yourself, think that you are also an important part of this world and have faith in yourself. Don't let others walk over you and tell them how you want to be treated.
Exercises for Children
  • Have faith in your child. Believe him and let him know how important he is. Acknowledge his feelings and support him in expressing them.
  • Try to be a good listener. Guide him for rights and wrongs instead of scolding or thrusting your things upon the child. Give positive feedback to the achievements that he has made and encourage him to continue positive activities.
  • Don't criticize your child rather criticize his behavior. Make the child clear that it's his action that is bad and not he himself. Try to be his friend, play and laugh with him. Encourage to participate in new activities, make new friends and to be independent.
Transform your weaknesses into strength. Whenever you feel that you are lacking in confidence, make use of these exercises to enhance your confidence level. Always remember a thumb rule,"be positive!"
