How to Install Wallpaper which is Self-Adhesive
Whether you are planning to use self-adhesive wallpaper for the entire room or just use a border to give your room a slight change from its usual look, the method to install the wallpaper remains more or less the same.
- First and foremost, it is important that you clear out the area in which you are installing the wallpaper. Remove cabinets, unplug appliances, unscrew any light switch plates.
- Next you will need to take measurements of the wall that you intend to paper. Take the measurements from the ceiling till the floor. It may be a good idea to leave 8 inches of extra wallpaper in case of any miscalculation.
- With this wallpaper, it may be a good idea to stick it only one foot at a time, peeling away the backing on the wallpaper as you go along. You may, in rare cases, need to moisten the adhesive on the wallpaper. You can do this by painting water on the back of the wallpaper.
- As you apply the wallpaper, press it smoothly on the wall with your hands. Apply slight pressure as you do so.
- It is imperative that you remove any wrinkles or bubbles that may be in the wallpaper strip. Use a wallpaper smoother to do this.
- Once you are done installing the wallpaper, you will need to trim off the excess paper. Use the smoother to make indentations in the wallpaper, when they are placed along window edges, the floor, or the ceiling.
