Seenly Forbidden [Chapter 7- 'Home']

A Teenage girl runs into a vampire boy who hates what he is…
School went by slowly, none of the classes caught my attention. This was the first year I ever tried attending school since the time I was bitten, everything was different. There was something in each class that I didn’t know and a lot of the stuff was new to me.

Though, I wasn’t entirely sure if a high school setting was meant for me. There are time when I feel out of place, I know that I am avoided by many of the students. I guess that I don’t blame them, I probably am pretty intimidating to over half of them. The whole loner appearance seems like it isn’t accepted well. I once heard a new student, I think they’re called Freshman, say that loners don’t fit in. I don’t fit in, so I assumed that’s what I would be was a loner. Now, I get more what it means.

Life has changed since my time and I missed it all by keeping myself cooped up. I kept to myself, entertaining myself with my music, and I only left when it was absolutely necessary. Now, when I’m actually out in the world, I feel left behind. Inside, I know that I’m not suppose to be here, that I was never meant to see any of this.

I’m still unsure with myself if what I am is a blessing or a curse. I’m falling more to a curse, this was never the way I would like to spend my life if I got to choose how it goes. But, life would hold no mysteries if I go to choose how it went. This is my life, though, and it feels out of control.

Memories of my first life have been coming back to me in my dreams. If I had to choice of what life I would want, I would be undecided. I know that my pre-life wouldn’t of last long, I was meant to die at a young age. At first I thought this second life was a blessing, that I was able to get rid of all the stress that I had from my first life, but it just got worse.

I didn’t know what was happening to me, I soon was craving the taste of blood and every other food that I loved felt like chalk in my mouth. I was warned to never step out into the sunlight, that was one of the few things that would be able to kill me.

I have to be careful of that. Cloudy days would block it out, making it safe for me to roam around outside, but I have to hide if even the slightest ray of sunshine peeks through. This town is normally always cloudy, almost anyway. On average, it would be cloudy four out of seven days a week.

You would think I wouldn’t risk it, but if you were ever cooped up as long as I was, I was going insane. I didn’t I would rather risk my life, I lived a long one, then sit around by myself.

Night, though, would still have to be my favorite time of the day. I was allowed to go anywhere I want and do what I want without the worry of the sun. The moment it gets dark-

Riiiing!

The end of the day bell rang, telling everyone that the school day is over and distracted me from my thoughts. The first day I attended here, I have no idea what those bells were for. They frightened me at first, thinking they were sirens or some sort of test, but I soon learned that it was to tell the entire school that the class was over and get ready for the next one.

I grabbed my stuff off the desk and walked behind the rest of the class. I still didn’t know most of their names and I’ve been here since the beginning of the year. I never really cared what there names were, though some stuck to me and I could pick out a few people in the hallway that I recognized from classes of mine.

I stopped at my locker, placing my books inside of it, closing it. The sound of lockers slamming and random conversations filled my ears. I heard bits of everything, a little bit of gossip that I never understood. I don’t try and hear what everyone was saying, but my advanced hearing picked up a lot of it.

Pushing my way through the crowd, and in moments, I was outside of the school. While students were pulling out there keys and heading towards the parking lot, I walked. Driving never appealed to me when walking was much faster, and I didn’t know how to drive and didn’t want to learn.

As I started down the sidewalk, I spotted Raleigh. She looked familiar to me in to many different ways, like I met her sometime before. My guess is that is why I am attracted to her, but the thought of that I’ve seen her sometime before haunted me. I wanted to know who she reminded me of.

She was walking home like me, and just to strike up a bit of conversation on my way home, I soon fell in step beside her, "Mind if I walk with you?" I asked her, lifting my gazed from the concrete below my feet to look at her.

She smiled at me and shrugged her shoulders like she didn’t care, "No, Blaze, you can’t walk with me. What would everyone else think?"

I was confused, almost stopping in my tracks so I wouldn’t get in her way. It was then that she laughed at me, "I was just kidding, yeah, you can walk with me." Raleigh laughed a bit more, "That was cute…"

What was cute? I decided not to ask her that question, it was probably better that she thought I knew what she meant, "No soccer practice today?"

"Yeah, It isn’t still four though. So, I’m just heading home to get a few things before I head back," She told me, waving her hand in the direction of her place. I assumed that she didn’t live to far away.

Just when I was about to say something, Raleigh spoke again, "So, where do you live?"

"Oh, just right out of town," I gave her the directions to where I lived, well, what I hoped were some good directions. She only looked confused.

"Really? I didn’t think anyone lived out there.. Hm, that’s cool though," She nodded, her hands stuffing into the front pocket of her hoodie. I guess it was a little chilly out, I never noticed that until now.

"Yeah, I can see why you think that. Thal- I mean my dad doesn’t really like much company, so no one other then the people who need to know we live out there know.."

She nodded, seeming to understand what I meant. We stopped at a driveway that I guessed went to her house, "Yeah, there are quite a few people in this town that don’t like people that much.. But, I’m here and I guess I better hurry up and get my stuff so I’m no late…" Raleigh saw me nod and apparently the expression on my face was humorous.

"Thanks for slowing my down, Blaze, now I’m going to be late," She teased me, it took me a few moments to get what she meant, "I’ll see you around.

Raising a hand as a goodbye, I turned and headed ‘home’.
