Seemly Forbidden [Chapter 8- Phone Call]

A teenage girl meets a vampire boy who hates what he is.
I arrived home from practice around five thirty and I felt like it was in a desperate need for a shower. Dropping my bag of soccer gear near the door, I kicked off my shoes and headed into the kitchen. Practice always made me hungry, and my health teacher told me that exercise would make you less hungry. Yeah right. I pig out after every practice. We’re suppose to be on a diet, but I love food to much. I can’t just give it up for a sport, besides, it’s not like it’s affecting my playing.

Glancing towards the answering machine, just to see if my parents called, but there was no blinking red light to indicate that there was a message waiting. With a shrug, I opened the fridge and scanned through it. I grabbed a few pieces of last nights pizza before I closed the fridge door and headed upstairs to my room.

The sweat from today’s practice was starting to get to me, my practice jersey was sticking to my skin. It was defiantly a good time to take a shower. Grabbing a pair of shorts and black tang top, then I headed towards the shower.

Showering only took me fifteen minutes, so I was all together and dressed within a half hour. I had no plans for the day, so I was thinking of calling a few of my friends and see if they would like to chill around town.

Running my fingers through my wet hair, collecting it all and put it up into a wet ponytail to get it off my back. Hopping down into the kitchen, I reached for the cordless phone and opened the fridge for the second time after practice. I wasn’t that hungry at the moment, but I was the type of person that ate when they were bored.

I grabbed a few pieces of fruit and popped it into my mouth just as the phone began to ring in my hand. Now that was probably one of my parents. They always called around this time to tell me if they need me to do anything or if they were going to be late, so I didn’t bother to swallow that piece of fruit when I answered.

"Hey," It didn’t actually sounded like a hey as tossed another piece of the cantaloupe into my mouth. To me it sounded more like ‘fay.’

"Hi," the voice on the other end of the phone wasn’t my father, but I could tell that it was a guy. Unless this was a very low voiced girl, I was pretty positive that it was a guy, "Is Raleigh around."

"Fahyeah," quickly I swallowed the fruit and wiped the juice off my lip, "This is her."

"Hey, again, um.. It’s Blaze."

"Oh, hey," Well, that was a surprise. Now I was confused.

"How practice go?"

He sounded like he didn’t know what to say, I know for sure that I didn’t know what to say.

"It was okay, I guess. Had to run a lot, like normal, but.. Yeah. How was your walk home?" I heard a laugh on the other of the line.

"Fine, nothing interesting about it."

I wanted to know why he was calling me, I mean, I like it that he called me. I wasn’t going to lie about that, but, it seemed quite random to me.

"That’s cool," the conversation sounded like it was about to die. Perhaps it would be easier if he just straight to the point, there had to be reason why he was calling me.

"Yeah, Anyway, I was just wondering-" I cute him off.

"If I wanted to hang, chill, go out to eat or something?" I knew where this was heading, and what my answer was going to be.

"Yeah… One of those."

"Sure, I was just about to call someone and do the same.. Because I have nothing to do. What’s on your mind?"

"…. Chill?"

"Alright, just come on by."

"’Kay."

"See you…."

"Yeah."

"Bye then," I hung up the phone and set my day’s plan. I guess I was going to hang with Blaze, which is totally cool with me. From the time that I talked to him, he seemed like a pretty good guy to me.
