Secrets ~ 4

Erin has a flashback, Gabriel tells his secret and Erin sees something that scares her more than ever...Comment and Poll!!!
I waited for Gabriel to show up. The weather today was strangely cold and windy. The address I gave him was for and abandoned park in the next town over. My dad would take me here when I was little, and it was still open. I leaned against my car, my hands in my pockets.
Twenty minutes later and I was about to go home. I opened my car door.
"Hey! Wait!" Gabriel came running up. He was out of breath and his hair was messy from the wind.
"I'm here." he said, still panting a little.
"I see. Did you run here?" I asked, shutting my car door.
"My car broke down a mile from here."
"That sucks."

"Thanks." I shrugged and started walking further into the park, Gabriel followed. We didn't say a word until we stopped in front of an old ride. A small roller coaster that used to be my favorite when I was little. I went up to one of the cars and sat in it, closing my eyes and remembering.

"Daddy, look at that one!" I pointed to the roller coaster with all the pretty colors on it. I had never been on one and I wanted to so bad.
"You want to go on?" My dad asked, kneeling next to me. I watched as one of the cars went over the hill and sped down the rest of the track. Now I wasn't so sure. I could hear it's passengers' screams. Were they scared? I stepped back, bumping into my dad. He saw how unsure I looked.
"Hey sweetie, do you want to know something?" I shook my head, making my pigtails bounce.

"You are my brave little princess." I smiled. "And that there," he pointed to the roller coaster "Is a magical ride to the castle. Now the Queen, your mommy, needs the king and the princess to be back home soon for dinner, and the fastest way to get there is on the magic train. So how about we hop on and get home?" He smiled and suddenly I wasn't so scared anymore. I held his hand as we approached the magic train. We sat in the third car, just me and my dad. We buckled up and waited for it to start. It shifted then slowly pulled forward. I closed my eyes as we reached the top. It slowly rolled over the hill then....we were speeding away. Turning corners and facing a few more hills. A smile spread across my face and when we got off my dad hugged me and whispered "My brave little princess."

I opened my eyes which were full of tears. Gabriel sat next to me and I wiped them away. I waited for him to start talking, but all he did was fiddle with some paint that was chipping off the car.
"If you don't talk, I'm leaving." I said. he sighed then rubbed his forehead.
"Look, this isn't something I can say easily. You probably won't believe me anyway."
"With the few things that have happened to me recently, I'm pretty sure I'll believe." he gave me a questioning look.

"Okay, well to start off, do you believe in...magic, or powers?" he was nervous I could tell.
"Um, I guess so." that was a lie. I wasn't sure what I believed lately. Everything that's been happening with Roland has thrown me out of whack.
"Okay, that's good. So you believe that people can control things like, let's just say, fire?" I knew it! But did I believe it? I shivered as a gust of wind blew through. I even scooted a little closer to Gabriel.
"How do I know you're not lying, because that's a pretty big secret."
"I knew you wouldn't believe me! Look, I should just go-" I grabbed his hand. It was warm and my skin tingled at his touch.

"Help me believe." I whispered. He looked at me, his eyes traveling. We were so close, close enough that I could see every beautiful detail in his earthy green eyes. Another gust of wind passed through and I shivered. Gabriel held my hand tighter, then closed his eyes. The air around us began to change. it got warmer. Just like last night. I took off my jacket, just to be sure. The warm air felt so good. I stuck my hand outside the car, the air outside it was still cold and windy.
I looked back at Gabriel and smiled "I believe you."

Gabriel told me more. How he could control fire, and heat things with just his mind. I quietly listened. When he finished, one of my questions was still unanswered. I decided that gabriel said enough and I was happy that he told me. Magic and powers are real! I running hundreds of questions through my mind.

I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you" I whispered in his ear. He smiled and turned a little pink. I sat back down and gazed out at the rest of the park. across the small sidewalk was a bench, and on that bench was a man. He was reading a newspaper, which hid his face. Something about him felt familiar. I watched him as he turned a page to his paper. The man put down the newspaper and I almost screamed when I saw his face. It was my dad...
