Secrets of His World - Chapter 9
Emily and Damien take a late night swim... (: Please comment! :D I'd really like to know what you all think of the story so far!
Emily and Damien danced the whole night. Emily didn’t want to tell Damien, but she knew she would before she left prom. She only had an hour to tell him before the prom ended. And she was dreading it.
"Damien, I really need to tell you something," she told him as they left the dance floor to get drinks.
"I need to tell you something, too," Damien replied.
"Well. You can tell me first."
"Uh…" he hesitated.
"At least tell me what it’s about."
"Well, lets go outside first, away from the music and people."
"Alright."
Damien took Emily’s hand and led her outside. He walked her to his car and stopped. Then he turned to her.
"Emily, I think… I mean, I don‘t know… I think I might be in--" he started, making Emily‘s pulse race, when he was cut off.
"Hey! There you are," Jason interrupted.
Damien groaned and then sighed. He had been looking at Emily the way he had before, when they were interrupted by Jason. Emily dipped her head to try and hide her disappointment.
"Yeah. Here I am," she said when Jason got to her side.
"Was I interrupting something? ’Cause I can always leave…" Jason trailed off.
"No. You weren’t interrupting anything. I’ll be inside," Damien told Emily.
She nodded her head and watched him walk away. Her stomach twisted inside. Emily looked at Jason, who was watching Damien walk away.
"Sorry if I did interrupt anything. I really didn’t mean to," Jason apologized to her.
"Nah. We were just talking. It’s okay," Emily whispered. She sighed.
"Well, I made it. They rescheduled mom’s surgery so that I could come to prom tonight. So, here I am."
"That’s nice."
"Yeah…" Jason said, sounding a little upset.
Emily looked at him and smiled. She grabbed his hand and led him into the school house. It was just her luck that Damien was about to say something that would be utterly wonderful and Jason had to ruin it.
Emily pulled Jason to the dance floor and wrapped her arms around his neck and began to sway back and forth to the slow song that was playing. Emily tried to imagine Damien holding her, instead of Jason.
She didn’t even see Damien anywhere. He had come back in the building, hadn’t he? Emily was starting to wander. It took everything she had to stay where she was with Jason. But her mind just wasn’t there.
After the song ended Jason walked Emily to her car. Sure, she had wanted Jason to come. She had wanted him to dance with her. But now, she wasn’t very happy that he had shown up. After all, Damien was about to tell her something important.
Jason opened Emily’s door for her.
"I had a great… hour," he said with a chuckle.
Emily smiled, even though it was fake.
"Me too. I’m glad you could make it," Emily fibbed.
"Yeah."
"Well, I’ve got to get going. I told mom I’d be back right after it was over."
"Alright. Bye, and drive carefully."
Jason leaned down and kissed Emily slowly, and lightly, on the mouth. Emily tensed, but kissed him back. Then she shut her door and started driving.
She just couldn’t get Damien out of her mind. And where had he went whenever Jason had shown up. He wasn’t with Clare because Emily had seen Clare. But he had went back in the building, because she had watched him walk in. Right?
Emily shook her head. She knew Jason didn’t mean to interrupt but she was still mad about it. And she had lied to him about getting home. She told her mom she might go bowling with some friends afterward.
But she couldn’t do that now, so instead she drove on some old back roads. She took a few turns, not exactly sure where she was driving to. Yet, she was aware that she was going toward the East Electrum River.
When she reached the old river house she parked her car and hopped out. Her and Damien had come here when they were younger, just to hang out and swim. Besides, Damien’s dad owned the whole river and the river house. So, Emily had a key to get in.
When she got to the door she noticed the light inside was on. Usually the last person here would turn the lights off. And there was no vehicles in the parking lot. Emily twisted the knob. It was unlocked so she opened it a little and knocked on the door.
No one answered her so she walked on in. Only family was allowed to stay in the river house and had a key for it. Which means it was either James, Damien, or Erin that was there.
Emily walked through the house. It didn’t sound like anyone was there.
"Hello? Anyone in here? James? Damien?… Anyone?" Emily called over and over.
Still, no one answered. Emily sighed and walked into the main room. There was a tux lying across the couch. She slowly made her way over to it and looked it over. It was Damien’s. Which means…
"Looking for something?" a familiar voice asked.
Emily smiled and turned around. There he was, in nothing but his boxers. Which was dripping wet at the moment. Emily bit back a laugh and shook her head.
"Nope. Just thought I’d come down for a swim. What are you doing here?" she asked, curiously.
"Oh, nothing. Just thought I’d come down for a swim," he mocked, smiling.
"Nice. It looks as if you’ve already done that."
"Actually, I haven’t. I was going in to the water and had made it half way when I saw headlights and heard a car pull into the driveway. So, I got back out and came up here to find out who it was. Lo and behold it was Emily Marie Lovett." He chuckled.
"Well, now who else would it be?"
Emily raised a brow at him mischievously and smiled. He laughed even more and shook his head. His beautiful jet black, shaggy haired head.
"I dunno. Anyway, you’re here, I’m here… We were both coming for a swim… Would you like to take that swim still? Because, you know, I wouldn’t mind having some company down in the river. Besides, we both know I’m still afraid of the dark and hate being alone in it," he joked.
"Oh heck yes! And indeed we both do know," Emily said, laughing.
An almost 18 year old guy still afraid of the dark was hilarious. Even to Damien it was funny. But he couldn’t help it. When he was a child and his mom died his dad left all the lights in their house off. Damien had claimed to hear creepy things and see people who weren’t there. It still spooked him out to this day.
"Will you help me with the dress?" Emily asked after they both sobered up from laughing.
"Sure."
Emily walked over to Damien and lifted her hair up. The dress snapped up in the back, so she had to have help to get it undone. Damien touched the top of her back, which was bare. It sent shivers down her spine. Then, very slowly, he unsnapped all the buttons.
Every time Damien’s hand touched Emily’s bare skin she would get goose bumps. And wherever his hand touched, it left a tingling feeling there. Emily wished the dress’s midsection was longer so that Damien would touch her more.
When he finished undoing the back of her dress, Emily didn’t move. She felt Damien’s hesitation from behind her. She wished she could see his face, but she didn’t want to move. She let her arm drop to her side, making her hair brush against her back and shoulders.
Then, very lightly, Damien laid his hand on her shoulder. He slid it from the top of her shoulder to her upper arm. Emily shivered from pure joy. Her pulse was racing so fast it wasn’t even real. Her heart felt like it was about to explode out of her chest. And all she wanted was for Damien to touch her more.
Damien grabbed the sleeve of her dress and pulled it down her arm slowly. Then he did the other sleeve the same way. When he had both sleeves down, Emily’s whole top was bare and showing, except for her strapless black bra.
Still, Emily didn’t move. She tried willing Damien to take it the rest of the way off with her mind. Although, she knew it was no good. Damien was his own person and would do whatever he felt like doing. So, even if she could will people to do things, should wouldn’t be able to get Damien to anything she wanted.
And yet, his hand was on her waist. He was sliding the dress down to her knees. She could feel his breath on the back of her thigh, which sent more shivers through her body. God, she wanted Damien so badly!
When the dress was to her ankles, she felt Damien’s hand there with it. He ran his fingers up the back of her leg until they were at the back of her knee. He gently pushed her leg up and out of the dress. Then he removed the other leg.
When he was done, Emily turned around to face him. He had the look she had longed for, for the past few days, on his face. It was always easy to pretend that he shared the same feelings she did when he looked at her like that.
Damien held his hand out for her and she took it. He led her out of the house and down to the river, which was only barely visible. The only light they had was the moon, which was full and shining luminously.
Emily’s stomach, filled with anticipation and butterflies, dropped when she touched the water. It was freezing cold! She shivered.
"Oh my gosh. How can you stand the water? It’s freezing!" she told Damien, who had water up to his neck already.
"It’s a secret," he said, smiling slyly.
"Ha-ha. I thought we told each other our secrets. That way we wouldn’t set around and wander about things. Remember, it’s ‘Sharing His Secrets’, not ‘Secrets of His World’, you cracker," Emily joked.
"Oh, but he has many secrets in his world," he told Emily, dreamily.
"Like what? Maybe you should share."
"Not until you join me in the water."
"Well, I can’t do that until you tell me how to feel warmer in the water so I can join you."
"You pee in it," Damien said, as if it were the most obvious answer.
Emily laughed out loud at that.
"I am not going to pee in the river. That is disgusting. Seriously, Damien, tell me how you do it," she said, still laughing.
Damien smiled and told her, "Just think of warm things. Close your eyes. Think of a nice summer day, with the sun shining. You’re in a meadow and the grass in hot from the sun. You’re lying next to someone and they’re just as warm as you are. So, you cuddle with them, which makes you even warmer..." he trailed off.
The whole time Damien was talking, Emily was imagining herself with Damien. His arms wrapped around her. His voice, his face, his smell, everything about him warming her from the inside out. The sun shining down, as if it were smiling upon them.
Arms wrapped around Emily’s waist and she opened her eyes. She was neck deep in the water with Damien. He had a hold of her waist and was pulling her deeper into the water.
She smiled and put her arms around Damien’s neck. The moonlight shone on Damien, making him look like a Greek God-like beauty. And he was holding Emily close enough that she could feel the whole front of his body on hers.
She looked into his smiling eyes and fell - not literally, though. Every time Emily was with Damien and they had moments like this, she fell. And fell hard, too, for Damien. She closed her eyes and laid her forehead on his, with their mouths just inches away.
If only the moment could last forever.
If only Emily could stay in Damien’s arms for an eternity.
If only he could love her, like she loves him… If only…
"Damien, I really need to tell you something," she told him as they left the dance floor to get drinks.
"I need to tell you something, too," Damien replied.
"Well. You can tell me first."
"Uh…" he hesitated.
"At least tell me what it’s about."
