Secrets of His World - Chapter 5
:) Comment please.
Sorry it took me so long guys. I was a little busy and I did get stuck once. My brain just didn't want to work for me lol. Anyway, I'll post a picture of Emily's prom dress with the next chapter. I already have it :) But I couldn't find any that went with the one I pictured hanging in the store that Emily wanted. So... Sorry, again. And I like you guys' comments! They're sweet and thoughtful :) They also help motivate me. So, thanks(:

Emily had made it through her Literature class finally. She had tried not to think about Damien being within arms reach throughout the class.
She had came straight into the class and pushed her chair as far away from Damien’s as she could get. Then she had waited for the class to file in and begin.
When Damien had came in he did the same thing with his seat. Which Emily had thought was rude. At least she had done it while he wasn’t there to watch or notice.
Emily sat forward the whole class period, waiting for it to end. It seemed as though time moved slower in this class. Maybe it was because it was the last class of the day. Or maybe it was because she was sitting by Damien.
She could see Damien out of the corner of her eye. Every now and then Emily would see his hand slide toward her and then he would jerk it back.
It was as if his body was calling for her, but he realized it before it had a chance to touch Emily. It made her furious.
When class was over Emily watched as Damien jumped out of his seat, grabbed his book, and then fled the class as fast as he could manage. She sat there waiting for the rest of the class to leave.
Emily marched up to Erin’s desk when everyone had left the class. She was going to talk to him about Jess.
"Do you need something, Emily?" Erin asked without looking up from his papers.
"Do you remember about a month ago? That party you were at when you got really drunk…" Emily trailed off.
Erin’s hands froze and he stared at the papers on his desk.
"No," he said, finally.
"You lying pig."
"How do you know about that? And why do you even care?"
"A reliable source told me. Someone who was there. Do you remember what happened that night?" Emily pressed on.
"No, Emily. I don’t. Listen, I was really wasted that night. Anything could have happened."
"Yeah. Anything could happen. And anything did. You slept with a beautiful girl that night. Her name was Jessica Lovett. My sister."
"Probably. Why do you care?" he asked suspiciously.
"Well, I dunno. Maybe, just maybe because the condom broke while you were fucking her!" Emily shouted at him.
Erin’s eyes shot wide. He stared at Emily without really seeing her.
"No… No, it’s not - " he was saying as Emily cut him off.
"Yeah. It’s true. Apparently the condom broke or something and now… Now, my sister is pregnant."
"Pregnant?"
"Yes. You know, with child. Preggo," Emily spat the words at him.
"But I… And she… We never…"
"Yes you. Yes her. And yes, you did."
"No. You’re wrong. It’s not mine," Erin said, refusing to believe.
"Oh, but it is. My sister, Jess, had only had sex three times. Each time she was on the pill and the guy had worn a condom. I know this because she tells me things like that. She’s been off the pill for almost a year, because the last time she had sex was about a year ago. She said she swore off guys and sex for a while for her career. And then she seen you at the college party. You were drunk. She was there and you came onto her. She decided to be reckless for one night and now she’s pregnant. With your child."
"Oh God."
"Yeah. But I don’t really blame you for all of it, though. She was probably drunk, too."
"How could I have…? Why? I didn’t ever… "
"I don’t know. All I know is that my sister is now pregnant with your child."
Erin turned pale and jumped out of his seat. He grabbed the trash can by his desk and threw up in it.
Erin looked at the door and turned as white as a sheet. Emily had never seen someone so white in her life.
"Beth. Oh God, Beth," he whispered.
"Beth?" Emily asked.
Then she heard it. A sniffle coming from the door. Emily stiffened and turned.
Sure enough, Beth was there. She had unshed tears in her eyes. She looked flustered.
Great, Emily thought to herself, you’re just ruining everyone’s day.
"Beth, I am--" Erin started to say when Beth interrupted him.
"No. Say no more. I don’t want to hear it. You have disgraced yourself and I. You have betrayed me and my trust in you. Erin Nathaniel Pennet, I wish to no longer be your fiancee. You may have your ring back," Beth told him sternly..
Emily had never seen a grown man cry until now. Erin had tears rolling down his cheeks. Emily felt bad for him.
Beth turned and walked out the door. Erin was still crying and throwing up. Emily just stood there in the class room.
Emily backed up slowly to the door. Erin had dropped to his knees puking.
Beth was nowhere in sight when Emily made it out the door. She felt horrible for ruining Erin and Beth’s relationship.
Emily walked slowly to her car. She needed time to think. Clear her head.
In the past two days she had managed to make Damien ignore her, make Jess mad at her, and ruin Erin’s relationship.
I’m on a roll, Emily thought gloomily.
Her phone started vibrating just then. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at it. She had a text from Jason that read:
"Em, sorry I can’t make it tonight. My mom got rushed to the hospital. I’ll make up for it though.
Sorry, again.
- J"
Of course, she thought.
She text him back saying:
"That’s fine. Take care of her. I’ll see you later, and don’t worry about it(: I'm still going to the mall though. I really need to get that prom dress."
Emily got in her car and headed to the mall. Even if she had no one to go with she would still go and get her dress.
She arrived at the mall a little after four in the afternoon. She went straight to the store she had seen the dress in.
Emily started to enter the door when she froze.
Damien was there. With Clarissa. The dress was gone.
Emily watched as Clarissa walked out of the dressing room with the dress on. It was the only dress like that they had and Emily had wanted it.
Clarissa swirled in it and Damien smiled at her. He nodded a yes to her and then she went to change.
Emily hid behind a manikin in the lingerie part of the store. Clarissa came out and handed Damien the dress. They went to the counter and paid for it.
As they were walking out the door Emily could hear them talking.
"Thanks, Damien! I had no idea about that dress until you told me. And I’m glad you told me. It’s a very beautiful dress," Clarissa said.
"You’re welcome," Damien laughed. "This girl I know had wanted it, but I guess she didn’t want it quite as bad as she thought considering it was still hanging there."
Now I’m just "this girl", Emily thought.
"Which girl? That one you used to hang around?" Clarissa asked.
Emily followed them. She was trying to be sneaky about. She was hiding behind all the clothes she could find.
"Yeah. She’s just this girl I know, though," Damien replied.
Emily felt as if her heart was breaking. Two can play that game, Emily told herself. She stopped secretly following them and stepped out into view.
She jogged a little to be able to get behind them. Emily pulled out her cell phone and turned it off. Then she pretended to be on the phone. She spoke loud enough so that Damien would hear her.
"Yeah. The dress is gone. It’s such a shame that I couldn’t get it. I have someone that is going to make me one, though… Yeah? Wow. Oh my gosh! I can’t wait!… I’ll see you later, too, Jason… Alright. Bye sweetie," she told her turned off phone.
Damien had turned slightly in her direction while walking. Emily watched as he tucked the dress in and held it closer to himself.
Clarissa had turned around and was looking at Emily. She smiled and Emily returned it. Then Emily looked over at Damien.
"You’re Emily Lovett, right?" Clarissa asked.
"Yeah. And you are…?" Emily said.
"I’m Clarissa Hamilton."
"Oh. Nice to meet you Clarissa." Hag face, bitch.
"Nice to meet you too, Emily," she chirped.
"Clare, we should get home," Damien told Clarissa.
"Oh. Okay," she replied. "Bye Emily."
"Bye Clarissa," Emily said and then nodded toward Damien. "Bye Damien."
"Bye," he muttered.
Damien and Clarissa left Emily standing in the hall of the mall. She sat down on a bench and rubbed her temples. She shut her eyes and tried not to cry.
"Headache?" a voice asked.
"Yes. I need… Ah. I don’t even know," Emily replied.
She looked up to find Jason there. He was in a black t-shirt and jeans.
"I thought you were at the hospital?" Emily said, making it into a question.
"I was. I couldn’t just leave you without a date when I told you I would be your date tonight. Besides, my mom is fine," he added the last part when Emily was about to protest.
Emily sighed and then smiled at him.
"Well. I suppose I could let you take me out still."
"Great. I was wanting to take you somewhere else, though. And don’t ask because I’m not going to tell you. It’s a surprise."
"Alright. I really need to take a shower though. My nerves are wrecked and ugh. A shower would help me unwind a little."
"So… Pick you up tonight at 8?" he asked her.
"Yeah. I’ll be at home. You know where that is, right?"
"Yes. You live by Damien, right? I’ve been to his house before, for a party."
"Okay then. So pick me up around 8 at my house," she told him.
"Will do," he said with a bow.
Emily laughed and let Jason walk her to her car. When she was in and Jason was gone she left for her house.
I need a lot more than just a shower, she thought.
