Emily was gathering the rest of her things for college when she got the phone call. It wasn’t surprising that Jason was calling her. She thought he would have called before now, but better late than never.

She stopped packing and took the phone from Jess.

"Well, it’s nice of you to finally call," Emily said through the speaker.

"Hi to you too," Jason said.

"Yup."

"Emily, don’t be like that. Please. I didn’t call because I needed to get some grades up to assure that I was going to graduate. I didn’t have time to call. And then I was busy looking for colleges."

"Oh… Well, you could have made time. I mean, seriously, Jason. It only would have taken, like, what? Five minutes to call and see how I was or something. So, thanks for that. At least I know I’m not important enough for you to call and check on me, even if it only takes five minutes."

"Ah! Emily! Don’t be like that, please! Look, I’m going to come over later. Okay? I’ll make it up to you then. I promise. We’ll go out and do something. Or we can come back to my place. My parents are gone for a week and we’ll have the whole place to ourselves," Jason conveyed.

"Alright. Fine. Come get me and we’ll go back to your place and do ‘something’," Emily replied.

Many things ran through Emily’s mind about that "something". She was still hurting over Damien, but she would stop. She already gave herself to Damien, and he repaid her by being with Clare.

Tears welled up in Emily’s eyes. She didn’t want to cry, but thinking of Damien made her want to bust out in tears. She bit her lip and blinked hard, trying to keep the tears from spilling over.

Emily hadn’t even realized Jason was talking until now. She tuned back in and listened to the last bit.

"…won’t do anything you don’t want to. So, I’ll see you in a few minutes, okay?"

"Yeah. A few minutes. Okay. I’ll be ready and waiting," Emily rushed out.

She hung the phone up and laid it on her dresser.

"You know, you could just ignore everyone. It’s a lot easier," Jess said from the doorway.

"Yeah, probably. I just… I need someone to talk to right now. Someone that’s not around me twenty-four seven. How’s things with Erin and Beth?" Emily replied, changing the subject.

"Good, so far. They’ve taken me up on the offer. Now, we just have to wait seven and half, very long months for her to get here."

"Her?"

"Well, we don’t know yet. But, I have a feeling it’s going to be a baby girl. If so, I think I’m going to name her Lillian Rain. Rain is going to be spelled R-A-I-N, too. I think it’s pretty, don’t you?"

"Yeah, sure," Emily said with a giggle.

Emily thought the name was great, but it was funny. Lillian Rain Pennet. Yes, very hilarious.

"What?" Jess asked.

"Nothing. It’s nothing. I’m just a little giggly today," Emily told Jess.

"Right. Well, I’m going out… I’ll be back later, and so will you. Preferably before dinner."

"Yes, ma’am," Emily said, with a salute to Jessica.

"Dweeb," Jess replied as she left the room.

Emily busted out laughing. She couldn’t help it. Jessica and her had spent a lot of time together in the past weeks. It had been a very good few weeks.

Jess and Emily had become closer than before. Emily helped Jess with everything and Jess returned the favors. Jess also knew something that no one else did, not even their mom.

After having sex with Damien, and her period supposed to start the two weeks after, Emily got worried when she didn’t start. So, she sent Jess out for a pregnancy test. Sure enough, the test came back positive. That’s when Emily made Jess go out and buy more.

Each test came back that she was, indeed, carrying Damien’s baby. At first Emily cried because she thought her life was, more or less, over. That she would have to take care of a baby.

Then, she started thinking. Maybe she wanted to have Damien’s baby. She couldn’t speak to Damien anymore, but she could at least have his baby. Raise and love it.

Hopefully it’s a boy, and looks like Damien, Emily thought as she rubbed her stomach.

She and Jess were the only ones that knew about the baby, though. Emily wouldn’t tell her mother until she started to show. Then she would explain about Damien and her, and the river house.

Until then, though, she wouldn’t say a word about it to her mother. She wouldn’t tell anyone but Jess. And Damien, well, he’s to never find out about the baby.

Ever.

Damien knew something was up. He could feel it. And even though he couldn’t see Emily’s future, he could still see Jess’s and Rachel’s.

So, Damien sat in his bedroom floor and tried to bring a vision to himself. He thought of Jess and Emily together. Once he was centered and concentrated, the vision struck him.

He was in Jess’s body. He was seeing through Jess’s eyes, breathing through Jess’s lungs, smiling with Jess’s mouth. He was watching Emily sleep on a hospital bed.

Emily looked bad. She was sweaty and looked exhausted. Damien looked down - when Jess did - at what he was holding in his arms. It was a new born baby.

The bracelet on the baby’s arm was barely visible, but he could make out the name: Amelia LeAnn Monroe.

Damien was so shocked that he jumped out of the vision without noticing. He stared at the floor, not seeing anything. His heart was racing; with joy or fear, he couldn’t tell.

The baby in his vision had to have been Emily’s. Jessica had said she was giving her baby to Erin and Beth. And the baby’s name…

Damien’s mother’s name was LeAnn Monroe. So Emily must have named the baby after his mother, LeAnn, and her grandmother, Amelia. And it had to be Damien’s baby, right? Or it wouldn’t have the last name Monroe.

Damien’s head was spinning by the time he decided it was definitely time to talk to Emily. Sure, he had tried many times, and failed each. But, this was different. Emily was carrying his child.

His beautiful unborn baby girl. Named after his mother. Oh, he would definitely talk to Emily. She wouldn't keep something this important from him, would she?
