Secrets of a Dark Past

This is the prologue/prequel/prelude to the first story I wrote.. but I want to change the first one so I decided to start from the beginning and redo it. P.S. I know the title doesn't really make sense with the story but I thought it sounded cool so... Yeah lol. P.S.S. Single parentheses means he is thinking the words and double means he is dreaming them. Enjoy!
((It was raining.... nighttime.... "No Arden! Run!"....A blaster shot sounds...))
I woke up. I have been having that dream every night since it happened. Its like a stain on my memory that never goes away. Before I continue, here is the full story behind that dream:
<------->
<------->
It was about midnight on mygeeto and it was raining... hard. So hard that you couldn't see more than 10ft in front of you, and even then all you saw was silhouettes. My mother was running as fast as she could with me in her arms. She stepped into a side alley with an overhanging walkway in between the two buildings to get out of the rain.

"Listen to me Arden.." She explained urgently. "You need to climb up this pipe to that walkway and run as fast as you can that way.." she pointed, "..and stay hidden. Do you understand me?"

I was shivering. "I understand mom.. but where do I go? what do I do?... where will you be?" I was scared.

"Don't worry Arden" She assured, "We'll see each other again soon... I love you so much!" She grabbed me and pulled me into the tightest hug. "I need you to run and stay hidden for a while.. then when you think its safe, go to our secret hangar.. You remember how to get there right?" She said.

"Yeah, I remember.." I had been in and out of there hundreds of times on my own for the past 3 years, since I was 5. "Will you be there?"

She hesitated. "Yes I will sweetheart.. now go, hurry!" I climbed as fast as I could. I paused at the top of the pipe and turned to look at her.

"I love you mom.." Then I kept on going into the walkway. I stopped as I heard multiple people approaching. I heard blaster shots and then cursing.

"Damn Roland... we didn't hit her" Said a scruffy male voice.

"Relax... Vanessa clipped her arm.. didn't you see her stumble and then cradle it 'fore she turned the corner?" Said a second, deeper, voice. Roland, I figured.

"Oh... and what of the child? I didn't see him.." said the first voice.

"He can't be far from here.. They were together when we saw them 5 minutes ago." said a third, female voice. Probably Vanessa. "He can't have gone far... he's only 8, Tash." They started walking to where my mother had run to.

"There is a trail of blood.." Roland said. "But the rain is quickly washing it away. We must hurry if we are to find the boy--"

"Whats so important about the boy anyways?" Asked Tash. "I mean.. how significant can an 8 year old be? Why is our boss so intent on capturing him?"

Roland simply replied by bringing his blaster around and firing twice, the first shot hit Tash in his firing hand, the second, his neck for the kill.

"Why did you do that?!" Vanessa was panicking.

"He was getting too nosy.. the boss don't like nosy" replied Roland.

"Oh... " said Vanessa, voice shaking.

"Lets follow the blood quickly before it washes away." Said Roland.

They turned the corner. I ran as fast as I could in the direction that I was told to go. I made sure I stuck to the shadows and no one would come around any corners. I didn't know where to go until I saw a closed vent on the wall that led outside. I knew where I was then because I had seen it so many times from the outside.

I quickly pulled out a screwdriver from my backpack and undid the screws and took off the vent quietly. Then I started to climb up onto the roof using the various plant platforms and decorations on the outside wall of the building.

Once I got up on the roof I ran to the Northeast corner, the direction of the hangar. I thought it was safe since they went off chasing mom. I couldn't bring myself to believe that she could be hurt.. let alone get killed, so I had to fight on so I could see her again.

I ran a few steps and then jumped over to the top of one of the archways that went around the plaza that this building was next to. I went to the opposite side of the plaza and kept moving across the roofs. I was getting near the hangar when I heard blaster shots.. I froze for a moment and then recovered and kept going. As I got nearer to the hangar, the blaster shots got louder, I heard a woman scream. My heart sank.

"Mom..."

A tear ran down my cheek.. at least I think one did. It was raining too hard to tell. I ran faster and then jumped and slid down the statue that made a perfect slide when it was wet a block from the hangar. I ran through the alley that led to the secret entrance to the hangar and I saw Vanessa lying on the ground, twitching and bleeding profusely. I felt nauseated. Her hip was burned really bad on one side and her leg was barely attached to her body.

I looked away, but not soon enough and I threw up. Gore wasn't my thing, I couldn't stand it. I ran quickly into the entrance and saw blaster burns on the walls and floor. I slowed down.. I heard Roland speaking with someone... probably my mother. I got closer so I could hear.

"...you so foolish that you thought you could hide from the boss? He always, ALWAYS, gets what he wants. You should know that Milan." Roland said. (How does he know her?)

"I knew he would find me eventually.. which is why I've prepared an escape plan."

Roland laughed. "You call THIS an escape plan? It seems to have failed you."

Mom just smiled. "I didn't say I would necessarily be involved in the escape."

Roland's smirk turned to an angry grimace. "You will tell me where your son is or I will torture you until you do." He pulled something off of his belt. "This is a prototype of an interrogation tool. I can get anyone to admit anything with it."

Milan just smiled bigger. "I didn't set the plan up myself.. do you think I would be that stupid, old friend? I had someone else arrange the details so I wouldn't be... tempted to let slip the plan."

Roland pistol-whipped her across the face. "You conniving witch! This will make the boss very unhappy.. but don't worry, its just a minor setback. He will still get what he wants... in the end." He raised his blaster to aim at her. "Very well then, I will just have to kill you and hunt down this child of yours and bring him in myself."

I was pissed. I ran straight at him and hit him in the stomach and he was thrown across the room into the wall just as he fired. (How did I do that?) The shot hit Milan in the shoulder and a look of raw terror shot across her face.

"No Arden! Run!" She yelled. Roland started to stand up, he was struggling. He must have hit his head on the wall. I ran up and kicked him in the stomach as hard as I could. He slumped to the ground again, unmoving. I ran over to my mom.

"Mom!" I yelled as I hugged her.

"Ow! I'm hurt.. don't squeeze so hard." I eased my grip. "Sorry mom. I just don't like to see you get hurt." Tears started pouring down my face.

"Don't cry Arden. I need you to keep going, get in the Bes'uliik and fly as fast as you can to the planet Mandalore. It should be in the ships pre-select co-ordinates. When you arrive there, they should recognize the ships code and know what to do. Look for a man in black, dark grey, and white camo armor. He will take you to a safe place. You are force-sensitive, that is why these men are after you. But the people I am sending you to will keep you safe and explain it further. I can't come with you honey because I'm hurt too badly. But I will meet up with you as soon as I can okay?" She said.

"Okay mom.." I sniffled. "How long until I see you again?"

She thought for a moment. "As soon as I can, I don't know if that will be days, weeks, or even months."

I hugged her again. "I'm going to miss you so much mom. I love you." I said. Voice wavering.

"I'm gonna miss you too sweety.. I love you with my whole heart, Always. Remember that Arden. No matter what." She took off her necklace. It was a dark blue carved gem set in a metal casing. It looked like a thick coin with a gem in the middle of it. "Take this so you can remember me when we are apart Arden." she put it around my neck. She kissed my forehead and hugged me one last time.

"Goodbye mom..." I said. Tears starting again.

"Goodbye Ardy" She said. Her tears flowing too. "Now go. Before He gets up again." I stood up and hesitated, then I ran to the ship. I got in and started it up. When I started to lift off I heard a blaster shot. I didn't see it. I just set a course for Mandalore and put it on autopilot.

{This is not the full flashback scene thing. I'll have to finish it in my next article}
