There are many ways in which you can look for a used car to buy in the UK, and there are some great deals to be found. As long as you have an idea of the car that you would like and stick to a realistic budget, you are sure to find your ideal second hand car in the UK.

Finding A Car In The UK

To find the right second hand car in the UK, you need to perform a detailed search across your local area and the wider region. It can be a gamble to buy a used car from a dealer or individual seller that is located extremely far away from where you live, as if you have problems, they can be more difficult to rectify. The internet, auto trader and local newspapers are the three best resources for used car buyers in the UK.

- The Internet- On the internet there is a plethora of websites dedicated to selling quality used cars at a bargain price. These websites vary in size, they might be affiliated with a retailer on the ground, or they may solely have a market presence on the internet, either way, the cars they sell will be cheap and of good quality. Look on websites that have a.co.uk domain as they are solely focused on the UK market and as such are better able to sell UK drivers their wanted car.

- Auto Trader- Auto trader and similar UK magazines are dedicated to advertising new and used cars across the country. They are published with specific locations in mind and regularly update their adverts. There is also a UK website through which you can look for the latest deals and for vehicles out of your specific location. These magazines are great for the choice they offer, however the limited space in each adverts means that you cannot always get a true picture of the car for sale. This might result in a lot of wasted journeys around the UK going out to view cars.

- Local UK Newspapers- In many regional newspapers there is a motoring section which often detail cars for sale. To get an advert in these supplements it usually costs a lot which means that only profitable UK dealers will be able to buy the ad space. On the other hand there are sometimes sections inside the newspaper itself where locals can advertise their car for sale for a smaller price than the larger adverts, but again the size is small and often many negative details are left out.

Buying a used car in the UK does take time, there will be sellers who trick you into viewing their cars by promising perfect engines and scratch-free body work only to find that there is no windscreen and the oil leaks. It is almost a certainty that you will look at cars you would never buy, which might feel like a waste of time. However, if you use the internet to ask the seller a lot of questions before you even go and look at the car you can save time.
