Searching for Tomorrow - Part 12
Searching for Tomorrow...
She placed every dish on the table. The main door opened and slammed.
"I'm home," a man called out.
He came around the hall and stopped dead in his tracks. He looked at me in wonder but he continued walking up to Justin's mom. He kissed her on the lips and sniffed loudly.
"Smells delicious." He said. He walked to the head of the table and sat down.
"So, son, who is this young lady?" He asked.
"My girlfriend, Heather. Heather, this is my father, James Grigori."
"Hello, Mr. Grigori." I said.
"No, please call me James." I smiled politely before sitting down on his left.
"No problem, Mr. Gri... James." I said.
He gave me an honest smile. With a prayer, we all sat and had dinner. It was something that I wasn't expecting. Although Justin and his dad weren't as close, they still joked around. It made me want a family more than anything.
Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, Justin invited me to a party at his family's house. I was wearing a red dress. Valeria was wearing a beautiful green dress that Justin bought her. At first I insisted that he shouldn't have bought it but she liked it so much I didn't want to say no.
Justin picked us up by eight. He was speechless when he saw us. He gave me a slight kiss before picking Valeria and spinning her around. Her giggles were loud and joyful. He put her on one side then took my hand. He walked us to the car, opened my door. I went in and he closed it gently, then opened the back door to the car seat he bought for Valeria. He made sure, she was buckled up properly before he got in the car.
He drove swiftly to his parents house. The party was full ongoing by now. The music wasn't too loud but loud enough to be heard from the outside. We went in.
Every few steps, Justin stopped to greet someone and introduce me. I smile at everyone and tried to remember all their names but there were too many aunt this and uncle that. I just smiled and continued.
"Do you want a drink?" Justin said above the music.
"Sure," I said.
"Well, there's soda, juice and alcohol. Which one do you want?" He asked with a grin. I slapped his arm and asked, "What type of alcohol?" I asked.
"Well since my uncle was too lazy to get it were stuck with the fruity drinks," he said.
"Like?"
"Bacardi," he said.
"Serve me some," I said.
"My pleasure," he said. And in front of all his family, he took my hand and kissed it. My face began to heat up and everyone laughed and patted him in the back on his way to the kitchen.
His mother passed by to say hello. She gave me a big hug. I smiled at her as Valeria hugged my leg. She was wary of all the people around her. His mother gave me a questionable look. I answered with a small nod. She didn't say anything and I hope she doesn't judge. My baby is the greatest thing that ever happened to me and I don't care what anyone thought.
She smiled without saying a thing. I glanced at her eyes and saw understanding. No judgment, just hard work understanding.
Justin came back and handed me my drink. I looked to see if he had a drink but he didn't. I gave him a questionable look. He smirked and whispered in my ear, "I don't want to drink. I've got to take you back home and I'm already drunk. Of you." He said.
I smile and taking him by the neck I gave him a peek on the lips. I looked into his eyes and was happy to see passion and a string of lust. But that wasn't the only thing I saw in his eyes. I saw love and compassion. Also a little bit of sorrow. It made me want to investigate but today was not the day. Today is the day where everyone is together and celebrated Jesus's birthday.
The night was almost over and Valeria was definitely ready to go home. She kept rubbing her eyes. I picked her up and told Justin that we wanted to leave. He smile at everyone, said his goodbyes and we left to the car.
We drove home but the traffic wasn't as I thought it was. It took us a half an hour to get home. When we did, Mikes car was gone and the house was empty. Justin carried Valee up to her room and settled her in bed.
He came right back down. He came in behind me as I putting the food in the fridge.
"You know I love you right?" He asked.
I turned around and put my arms around his waist.
"Yes. And I love you." I said.
