Sean Penn Files for Separation from Robin Wright

One of Hollywood's most stable couples - Robin Wright and Sean Penn - are trying once again to end their marriage.
The couple first filed divorce proceedings with one another in 2007, but later withdrew the filings and reconciled. That attempt at mending the relationship appears to be coming to an end and Sean Penn has filed separation papers, citing the always-popular "irreconcilable differences" as the grounds for the separation.

Likely to complicate matters is the situation with the couple's children. Sean Penn has filed for joint legal and physical custody of their 18-year old daughter Dylan Francis and their 15-year old son, Hopper Jack. It is unclear at this point what the living arrangements are for the former couple or their children. Also unclear is what type of prenuptial agreement may be in place that would attempt to govern the division of assets, should a divorce ever become final.

The fact that the couple has stayed together for 13 years can be considered somewhat admirable in Hollywood, although the timing of this break-up seems a bit out of place. Not much notable has been happening in the life of Sean Penn to warrant such an abrupt life change. Although, perhaps a long stretch of down time has clarified the fact that the couple no longer wants to remain together.

At this early date, there is still no word on any infidelities or personal issues that may have precipitated the separation filing. But there is little doubt that such stories will start to surface, true or not, in the coming days and weeks.
