Scrapbooking in Salinas, California

Learn of the many photo opportunities that exist in Salinas California.
Salinas, California is best known as the setting for many of John Steinbeck’s novels. While in Salinas, you can visit the National Steinbeck Center. Their website says "Discover Steinbeck's works and philosophy through interactive, multi-sensory exhibits for all ages and backgrounds, priceless artifacts, entertaining displays, educational programs and research archives. Seven themed theaters showcase East of Eden, Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath and much more."

One historical landmark in California is the José Eusebio Boronda Adobe Casa, which was built between 1844 and 1848 by José Eusebio Boronda. The home is known as an outstanding example of a Mexican era rancho adobe. Virtually unaltered since its construction, it shows many features of the "Monterey Colonial" style which resulted from the fusion of New England and California building traditions during California's Mexican period.

The adobe is now owned by the Monterey County Historical Society, and is furnished with many original artifacts.

Do you like animals? Wild Things is located in Monterey, CA. They offer daily tours, where you can see their trained animals that are used in movies and on television. They house birds, alligators, cats, bears, elephants and many other miscellaneous animals.

You’ll need supplies for all of the photos you’ll take during your stay in Salinas. StampBug, located in Salinas, combines the best of two worlds, rubber stamping and scrapbooking.

StampBug offers 2800 square feet of fun. They also post their class calendars two months in advance, making it very easy to see what is being offered on your planned day in Salinas. Their classes include scrapbook basics and stamping 101, both geared to learn the basics. I counted 18 different classes offered.

If you want to take a day trip, San Francisco is just a few hours away by car. With so much to see and so many photo opportunities, you’ll want to stock up on scrapbook paper and accessories for the pages you’ll create of your trip to Salinas.
