Officers responded to a call that a female was setting clothes on fire outside the couple’s home. When police arrived on the scene they reportedly found a trashcan full of smoldering clothes. Mary Wieland was taken into custody and booked for investigation of felony arson vandalism at approximately 1:25 a.m. Sunday according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. She was released on $50,000 bail at approximately 3:10 a.m. Scott Wieland reported the damage of the clothing, suits, and shoes was approximately $10,000.
The incident occurred just hours after the couple was question by the police concerning vandalism at a local hotel where the couple was staying with their two young children and the nanny. Allegedly, the staff at the Graciela Burbank Hotel contacted police at around 3:40 p.m. to report "severe damage" to two rooms and said that a "hysterical female" was in one of them. Scott and Mary Wieland reportedly had a "loud argument" before he left the hotel. It has then been reported that Mary Wieland allegedly destroyed the rooms breaking dishes, food on the carpet, and damage to the walls. Both Wieland’s were questioned by the police about the damage and Sgt. Mathew Ferguson said, "She is a suspect in the vandalism. He is not." The hotel damage has been reported at $400, but the hotel has not pressed charges yet. Mary Wieland is expected to be arraigned on May 7 for the arson and vandalism case.
Wieland is the former singer for the Stone Temple Pilots and frontman for the bad Velvet Revolver. He married model Mary Forsberg in May 2000. The couple has a 6-year old son, Noah, and a four-year-old daughter, Lucy. Neither child was present when Mary allegedly burned Scott’s clothing. A source said that both children were placed in protective custody after the incident.
