It was confirmed Tuesday night that Velvet Revolver has fired frontman Scott Weiland for his erratic behavior and personal issues.

Sanctuary Management, the band’s rep, announced the change after the band wrapped the European leg of its tour on Tuesday night in Amsterdam. Slash said in a statement, "This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn’t 100 percent committed to either. Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on." Recently it has been rumored that Weiland would be reuniting with his band Stone Temple Pilots this summer for a tour.

Velvet Revolver has always had a rocky relationship, but it apparently took a turn for the worse after a concert in Glasgow, Scotland two weeks ago. Weiland announced to a sold-out crowd, "You are watching something special…the last tour by Velvet Revolver." The other members of the band were reportedly shocked by the news. Drummer Matt Sorum wrote on his blog following that concert, "[We] had a little band turmoil on stage, as you could probably tell. Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don’t get along. I guess there has been more turmoil lately, with the cancellations and all. It has been frustrating; I am not going to lie. Everybody could see who was unhappy [at the Glasgow concert], but all I can say is let’s keep the rock alive, people.

Revolver was formed in 2003 when Weiland joined former Guns N’ Roses members Slash, Sorum, and Duff McKagan. They have had two hit albums Contraband and Libertad and earned a 2005 Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance. The group is also planning on releasing a third album sans Weiland later this year. Weiland reportedly wrote in an email to MTV, "Good Hunting, lads. I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."
