Scholarships for African-Americans
There are hundreds of scholarships for African-Americans all around the US. Such scholarships and grants help students in earning some extra cash with the use of their talent.

Not only educational institutions, but businesses and huge corporations too offer African-American scholarships to help them get in their field of interest and work for the company later. Several companies promote growth in their own area of work and offer scholarships to them. Although scholarships and financial aid are expensive, these investments outweigh the work that these talented young minds can do for the company.
List of Scholarships for African-Americans
Before the early 90s, the African-American group might have been the most unprivileged groups in the United States in the field of education and various others. But thanks to the efforts of African-American leaders, there are lots of easy scholarships being offered to the African-American student community. Even though the Hispanic community is the highest in numbers when it comes to the minority community, African-American students are the highest when it comes to gaining scholarships and educational grants.
To qualify for a scholarship, a student has to have an outstanding GPA; in simple terms, the higher the better. Moreover, this GPA has to be consistent throughout. Governments and businesses would not like to invest their money in someone who is not serious about her/his education. One aspect that most scholarship foundations pay attention to is a student's involvement in community service. Someone who displays this aspect on his resume, along with a great GPA, is more likely to qualify for that scholarship than someone who does not. For example, if you are exceptionally talented at studies, then you should apply for the United Negro College Fund Scholarships (UNCF). The UNCF grants easy scholarships for college going African-American students, and provides funding for predominantly African-American colleges and universities in the US. Potential applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and should have completed a UNCF General Scholarship Application. Under the UNCF, there are over 450 easy scholarships for high school seniors. Most of these scholarships are for students with special requirements, which includes Liberty Scholarships for children of the 9/11 victims. Here are some more popular scholarship programs that have been specifically designed for African-American students.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship (JRF)
This scholarship program is one of the best offered to students from disadvantaged sections of the population, particularly to students of color. It is a non-profit organization that focuses on ensuring the development of talent from this section of the population by offering scholarships of large amounts to these students. A SAT score above 1000, a specific need for the money to study, evidence of community service, belonging to a minority group, citizenship of the U.S., leadership potential, and a maximum qualification of a high school degree, are the requirements to be eligible for this scholarship.
Ron Brown Scholar Program
Offering a $40,000 scholarship to deserving African-American high school seniors each year, the Ron Brown scholar program truly provides potential to students to venture into a world that would otherwise be unknown to them. The eligibility requirements are similar to those of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship. But the emphasis on community service and the desire to give back to the community after achieving whatever students are set out to do is much higher in this program.
Breakthrough to Nursing Scholarships for Racial/Ethnic Minorities
This is a scholarship program designed to encourage students from minorities in the field of nursing. Students who are enrolled in pre-nursing and nursing programs are eligible for this scholarship. African-American students who are interested in this field should display ability to advance in this field and provide evidence of financial need to receive this scholarship.
Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) Scholarships
Dedicated to helping lower-income African-American families, the BAEO offers scholarships for individuals in different areas of education such as online learning, home schooling, and supplementary education programs. To understand their eligibility requirements, one must contact the organization via its website. These details will vary based on the kind of course you want the scholarship for.
The Negro Spiritual Scholarship
This Scholarship is awarded to high school students of Afro-ethic descent who are studying in the eleventh or twelfth grade. Participants have to enter a statewide vocal competition and perform Negro spirituals. Students who register for this competition have to train with a voice teacher to learn a new piece of music sent to them and the training also helps them to meet the high standards of the scholarship. Winners of this scholarship (one male and one female) win the desired Grady-Rayam prize and a grant of $3000 for college tuition.
