Scented Candles
A proposal.
Scented candles, on the mantle,
Strike a fragrance, soft and gentle,
Perfumed roses, strike their poses,
Splendid in their crystal vases,
Wafting scents of summer love,
Pleasingly remind me of,
The beauty that you hold within,
A beauty that is mine to gain.
Whispered words of nature's gift,
Tender moments spent within,
The company of your friendship,
The eager wait to kiss your lips,
A longing to hold you in my arms,
To keep you there all summer long,
Again I bring you scented candles,
And perfumed roses for the mantle.
Silken gowns adorned with lace,
Diamond eyes light up your face,
A golden smile of happiness,
Compliments your loveliness,
Your perfumed smell sets the tone,
And on one knee, I take your hand,
As shadows dance around the mantle,
In the flickering light of scented candles.
Champagne corks, fire off,
Their twenty-one gun report,
In celebration of our love,
You throw the bouquet as we set off,
To live our lives forevermore,
Together in each others arms,
We will forever adorn our mantle,
With perfumed roses and scented candles.
