Scarlett Johansson & Ryan Reynolds Are Engaged

Johansson’s rep Marcel Pariseau confirmed the engagement to People magazine and said, "They are both thrilled!" Reynolds, 31, recently popped the question, but no wedding date has been set yet. The couple began dating last spring and has been going strong ever since. They were first spotted getting cozy in New York City in April 2007, a mere two months after Reynolds and singer Alanis Morissette called it quits on their own engagement. A source has reportedly said that Johansson and Reynolds have been engaged "for a little while" but wanted to keep their engagement quiet because "they want to keep things private."

Prior to hooking up with Reynolds, Johansson was romantically linked to actor Josh Hartnett. She was also romantically linked to singer Justin Timberlake after she appeared in his music video for "What Goes Around." She has said that they are "just friends" and nothing romantic ever occurred between them. Reynolds and Morisette began dating in 2002 and got engaged two years later. The couple officially called it off last February,

Reynolds is currently filming the romantic comedy The Proposal opposite Sandra Bullock. Most recently he appeared in Definitely, Maybe. His other projects include Fireflies in the Garden with Julia Roberts and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Johansson has a number of projects in the works. She can be seen in the Woody Allen flick Vicky Cristina Barcelona and He’s Just Not That Into You where she stars alongside Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, and Ben Affleck. She also has an album coming out Anywhere I lay My Head which is set to debut on May 20.
