First week

"What do you know about Shinra?" Night frowned and thought about what she was going to say.
"They make energy, you’re a SOLDIER which means you protect the "interests" of Shinra, they also employ scientists and other people…"
"Pretty much, what about the situation with Wutai?"
"The Wutai are tribesmen from the south, they fight Shinra for their land and they don’t want civilization." Night tried to stop herself sounding like she agreed with the Wutai but she didn’t think she managed it. Sephiroth raised an eyebrow.
"You’re right, I don’t completely agree with Shinra on this either." Night relaxed, she hadn’t offended him. She looked out over the city of Midgar from the roof where they were talking and was surprised at how small it seemed from up here, there was so much more of the world from the roof of Shinra.
"Who was your father?" Sephiroth asked.
"I never knew, you’ll have to ask my brother."
"He never told you?"
"He left when I was five to try and make enough money for me to live." Night continued to look out over the plains. "He wanted to be a SOLDIER but something went wrong and now he’s just a regular."
"So you’ve been living in the slums since you were five?" Sephiroth asked incredulously.
"Yeah, we got evicted by Shinra."
"How did you survive?" Night’s face went blank and she didn’t answer, he didn’t push her, they sat there for a while longer before going back into the Shinra building.
The first week was hell, she couldn’t find anything and she didn’t know anyone, on her day off she found herself back in the slums looking for Rick. He found her standing on top of the watchtower which was usually where he slept.
"So Cassia you took them up on the offer then." Night turned and grinned as Rick crushed her in a hug. "I was worried."
"Really? Why?"
"Cause you disappeared and then I heard rumors that this guy with white hair was chasing you." He looked at her for an explanation
"He saved my life." Night started.
"Who is he?"
"A SOLDIER, he has to train me, his name is Sephiroth."
"What’s he like?" they started walking along the ramparts.
"He seems to be lonely, though he’s quite nice to me." Night thought about the way some people looked at the SOLDIER and wondered why he seemed to spend most of his life alone.
"Just be careful Night, in places like that things slip underneath the radar."
"I will."
"How much do you get paid?" He asked.
"More than enough to get us both drunk." Night grabbed his arm and pulled him back the way they’d come.
