Sarina & Xavier's Story - Chapter Twenty Seven

Chapter Twenty Seven

(Sarina's P.O.V)

As I hung up the phone and started the car I took a deep breath, I hated this feeling I was living my life in fear, I think that was my most common emotion as of late. It seemed to be that every time Xavier and I started to relax a little this person would do something to scare us, the worst part was that I had no idea why this person wanted to get back at Xavier so badly but unfortunately they had chosen me to complete their mission. I had been driving for about twenty minutes when I first noticed the car behind me acting suspicious, they seemed to get closer to me every time there were no other cars around but as soon as another car would come into sight on the other side they would back right off. I started to speed up a little to see if I was just overreacting or the car was acting weird, the car was a big, black Ute, Nissan Nevara but the weirdest part was that the number plate was so dirty that I couldn't read it yet the rest of the car was very clean, as I sped up the other car also did.

We were coming up to part of the road that I could remember as being full of sharp turns and down a steep mountain side and that no one but the pack used, I was hoping that when the turn off came for the packs estate that the car wouldn't take it. I knew that this person who ever they were, are definitely not part of Xavier's pack and I also knew before I made the turn that they would without a doubt turn down the road that only led to the pack. I quickly pulled out my phone and got it ready so that with one touch it would call Xavier because my reception would run out in a few minutes and I wouldn't get it back till I was closer to the houses and although I didn't want to scare Xavier I also didn't want anything to happen and for me to be lying in a ditch for hours till someone from the pack found me. The turn off came and I quickly took it with minimal indication and only slowing down slightly but yet the car behind me still turned as well. I decided that I had better call Xavier now, I quickly pressed call and the phone only rang once before he answered.

"Hey Babe, I thought that you were on your way home?" he sounded slightly worried and confused, I didn't want to worry him unnecessarily, so I decided a more subtly approach.
"Hey baby, I am on my way home I just wanted to ask you a quick question" he let out a quiet sigh of relief when I said I was on my way home, please let this mean nothing he already had to deal with so much worrying because of me.

"Okay, what's up?"
"Do you know what type of cars most the pack have?"
"Yes, since we all very close why?"
"Okay does anybody drive a black Nissan Nevara?" he was quiet for a few seconds
"What is going on Sarina?" I sighed
"Just answer the question first Xavier"
"No, no one in the pack owns that type of car" now I knew there was no way I could avoid telling him and when I looked in the review mirror I saw that the car in question was only a meter or so from the back of my car
"Okay, well this car has been following me for a while and it has been acting weird like speeding up when no one else is in sight and backing off when we pass a car and just now it took the turn down the road to the pack and it is sitting only about a meter behind the car" I heard Xavier curse loudly and talk to someone beside him
"Okay sweetie we are coming to get you we will be there in a few minutes" just as he said that the car behind me nudged the back of my car which caused me to lose control of the car momentarily. Once I had control of the car back again I picked up my phone from my lap
"SARINA... WHAT'S GOING ON! ANSWER ME NOW!" I took a deep breath and tried to control my voice so that he didn't worry too much.
"Xavier you need to hurry the car just nudged the back and tried to make me lose control"
"Okay Sarina, we are on our way just stay on the phone to me okay" I looked down at my screen and saw that it had gone from full bars of reception to one bar which meant that it wouldn't be long
"Sorry babe but my reception is about to run out I can't stay on the phone sorry" he groaned and swore loudly
"Okay, we will be there soon just stay on as long as you can okay?"

"Oka..." I was cut off by my own scream because suddenly I was hit hard from behind and the car jerked and swerved severely, I had to fight to keep myself on the road. I looked in the review mirror and saw the car speeding up to take another shot at knocking me off the road. I tried to think of something to do I couldn't speed up because I didn't know this road very well and I would probably end up crashing anyway if a sped, I couldn't just pull over and let them pass because there is no way that the driver would just pass by, the only option I really had to keep driving and hope that Xavier would get here before anything terrible happened. Just as the car was about to hit me again it suddenly braked, the car fully stopped and turned around speeding back in the direction we had just come from, I didn't understand at all why would they suddenly stop, now when they were so intent on trying to get my off the road before. I didn't have long to ponder the reasons why when all of a sudden a huge wolf was running towards me, I braked quickly and as soon as the car stopped I jumped out I knew it was Xavier. As soon as I hopped out Xavier ran into the bushes and transformed back because when he came out he had a pair of soccer shorts on, he ran to me and hugged me tightly.

"Sarina, what happened?" I took a deep breath to try to calm myself as I relayed my story to him
"I was driving home when I noticed the car behind me acting strangely and when they took the turn to the pack's home, I knew something was wrong then as you know he nudged me when I was talking to you, then he hit me harder the next time but a few seconds ago the car just braked suddenly and they turned around and sped back the way we came"

"Okay guys go see if you can trace the car but if you find it keep the driver alive we need some questions answered" it was only then that I saw the ten or so huge wolves standing around Xavier and I, but once Xavier finished speaking they all took off running. After Xavier held me for a few minutes while whispering encouraging words to help calm me, we broke apart and silently headed to the back of his car to inspect the damage. Although it wasn't to bad it was obvious that someone had been trying their best to force me off the road, I took a shaky breath when I saw it because it finally hit me that someone out there was doing their very best to see me dead and they were not going to stop until they succeeded or until Xavier and the pack stopped them. I quickly calmed myself down so that Xavier wouldn't realize how shaken I was, he already had so much to deal with that he didn't need me freaking out as well.

"Come on Xavier we had better head back, so we can get ready for the ball tonight" he shook his head as he seemed to slowly come out of a trance.
"Yes your right Darling, I'll drive back" he hugged me tightly before walking around to his side of the car, I sighed as I headed to my own. If I didn't love Xavier so much I would have to start to question my decision to be with him after all in the few days we have been together I have been almost killed by a bomb, almost attacked by a werewolf, had a stranger take pictures of my while I was shopping and almost had my car run off the road, it frightened my a little to think of what would be next.
