Sarah Palin May be "Going Hollywood"
Sarah Palin, on the losing side of the recent election, still has a plethora of options open to her, with talk shows and book deals among the mix.
Sarah Palin, lambasted (fairly or not) by the mainstream media during the recent presidential election and even after the shouting match was over, has almost limitless possibilities ahead of her, and the Hollywood approach may be the most appealing. Palin, plucked seemingly out of nowhere to fill the slot of Vice Presidential candidate on the McCain ticket, generated buzz in the media for her folksy ways, extensive (and expensive) wardrobe and the occasionally verbal misstep. Though the young Alaska governor does not provide the cornucopia of verbal transgressions of a George W. Bush – for example – she has come up with some zingers, both intentionally and unintentionally.
Word is that Palin has her pick of a variety of "in the spotlight" positions, ranging from talk show host to book deals. Random House spokesman Stuart Applebaum noted recently of Plain, "She clearly has a constituency and we know books by conservatively centered politicos usually sell very, very well. There are several of our imprints who are eager to talk to Gov. Plain." On the other hand, Linda Mann of Mann Media is apparently not a fan, noting that "Her buzz is incredible. She has car-wreck appeal. You’re compelled to watch, hoping she’ll say the dumbest things possible. I’d propose a show combining her love of fashion and lack of brainpower – ‘Project Dumbway.’"
First up among her guests? We’re just guessing, but wouldn’t Vice President-elect Joe Biden be a great choice? With his propensity to say anything that pops into his head at just about any time – and for those off-the-cuff comments to frequently make absolutely no sense to anyone but an individual under the influence of hallucinogens – the two would make a great team on Mann’s proposed (in jest) human train wreck of a show. No word on whether Biden would be willing, but given the Obama campaign’s limit on the man’s appearances throughout the campaign, we’re guessing it would be a no-go.
