Samsung Goes in an All New Direction with the B3310

Samsung’s New Look

The Samsung B3310 is the new kid on the block, and it does honestly look different. But that is just the first impression you will get, this is actually a pretty good GSM device. The B3310 packs a 2 mega pixel camera, 2G data streaming and a neat FM radio feature. The layout does take a while to get used to, thankfully, Samsung has been generous and added in a slide out QWERTY keyboard for our sakes and it makes typing messages on the B3310 a whole lot easier. You will be using the vertical number keypad to punch in a quick dial.

The control buttons below the screen make navigation easy and fast. The B3310 also shines where other GSM devices fail, it has a really good color theme. This may be a GSM phone, but it doe not shrink with the same anonymous design that other devices have. The B3310 packs some pretty nice attitude with it and most phone owners will appreciate that.

Beyond Criticisms

If you have been researching about the B3310, then you would no longer be surprised at the amount of flak this mobile device gets for its keypad layout. Our initial reactions were also no different, but if you give this phone a decent amount of use, getting used to the layout is no different than trying out a new phone for the first time. Our only complaint is that you will not be typing messages with only one hand, which is quite a useful convenience when you are multi tasking. Of course, if you are the type to be multi-task with a mobile device, then you might be better off with an actual smart phone instead. Samsung is taking a brave new step with this device. And while we all may agree that Samsung can still do better, there is a definite amount of praise that this mobile device deserves for its innovative new look.

Not the First Strange Layout

Obviously, Samsung is not known for creating oddly designed mobile devices; that infamy goes to Nokia. While some may say that this is the start of a bad trend, Samsung’s amazing track record and mobile device line up says otherwise. This phone is just the tip of a new series for Samsung, we are sure that the next in this series will be bringing all that is good with a whole lot of new improvements. We do admit that that is our subtle way of saying that the B3310 still has ways to go, but at least it is going in the right direction.
