Same Sex Marriage is not about rights

Semantics are intolerable....
Same Sex Marriage is not about rights
The California Stare Supreme court ignored the voice of the voters when they allowed same sex marriage in the state. That in itself is a travesty of justice. But it’s not what bothers me most.

No one has ever prevented gays and lesbians from getting married. Their rights have never been infringed upon. Any man can marry any woman and that is the definition of marriage. What same sex couples seemed to want are not rights but recognition and equality.

Marriage has always been defined as man and woman. This is what our founding fathers would have intended when the United States Constitution was made. Now before anyone goes into the evil of slavery also being originally part of the United States just wait.

America has a proud history of citizens standing up for the rights of the oppressed. Perhaps the activists of today are so envious of the glory days of the civil rights movement that they must stand up and fight for anything that appears correct in the media and political correctness.

But the rights of humans based on race are not the same is based on lifestyle. Even if homosexuality is natural and not a choice, it is manifested through lifestyle.

Men and women are different. Same sex partners are different from opposite sex partners. Homosexuality is different than heterosexuality. If gay and lesbian couples want to be married, by definition they can be married. Just not to someone of the same sex.

Is that discrimination?

Do they want what heterosexual couples have for equality? How can something different be treated the same?

This isn’t about equality or rights. It’s about semantics. And it’s about tolerance. We who disapprove of same sex marriages are now being told by the courts that it is alright.

Is that discrimination?

The slippery slope of lifestyles based on genetic makeup could be waiting for approval from the zealous masses looking for their next cause.
