The history of saffron cultivation dates back to more than 3,000 years and is believed to have been originated in Greece or Asia Minor (now part of Turkey). Though saffron is available in both thread and powder form, it is better to purchase saffron that comes in strands as they contain a better aroma and flavor. Always buy whole dried saffron threads, that too of a genuine brand as they offer a deep orange color and delectable flavor when used in different recipes. Apart from these, it is extremely important to store saffron threads in an airtight container in a cool dry place for its longevity.
