Sacrificed for Blood: Kristi-Louanne - Part Two
Continuing from Part One. Comment, smile, and enjoy!
I rolled my eyes at the look on Aubree's face. I had left the boys and after a while, my best friend had come to continue this shopping experience. She stared at my back as I put back on my top. Before the hem slipped over the small of my back, Aubree rushed forward and jerked it up. A ring on her first rubbed my skin the wrong way and I sucked in a breath. I had always had sensitive skin.
"What is this!" She demanded. I was confused for a moment and then I widened my eyes. She knew! She literally knew! But how does she know about the supernatural world. On the small of my back was a print of my Fairy's Mark. It would pass as a tattoo to human eyes but it was an unmistakable wing outline that showed from under my skin. As I grew older it should slide up, until it rested at the middle of my back. Then, I'd grow wings.
"Um, Aubree." I whispered suddenly realizing that she's hurting me. Her hand fisted uncomfortably on my back until it hurt, "You're hurting me."
Her grip didn't relax." You're in the Unseelie Court! You're freakin' evil!"
Unseelie Court? I had grown up with humans. Even my Aunt Brenda didn't know everything. So I had no clue what the Unseelie Court was.
"Why do you think that?"
"Because! You obviously live with humans and one of The Unseelie Court do that! They plan to make humans weak-minded too- why the hell am I explaining to a Unseelie Court member. God, why am I even friends with you?" She asked and I shrugged. I wasn't a member of whatever Unseelie Court and if she thought that of her best friend then I suppose she can rot in betrayal hell.
"I am not part of the Unseelie Court. I'm a hybrid. My dad is human and my mom a Fey." The hand tensed and I groaned in pain as her suddenly sharp nails dug into my skin. Now, that hurt.
"That's not possible." Her voice was guttural and I had to guess what she was. Her cat green eyes... Suddenly it hit me. She's a damn shifter! All these years and that little tidbit didn't come up. Oh, don't be a hypocrite! You wouldn't have told her either.
"Obviously it is. You would've sniffed me out but my human smell confused you." The sharp nails are claws. They retracted and that in itself was painful. The hand retracted and I sagged in relief. I turned to her to see only a few wisps of hair on her chin and nose. The blonde curls receded the longer I stared.
"I'm a freak. A hybrid. Damon found out. And yes, I know what he is. A friggin' werewolf." I told her and she gaped.
"Oh no. And he warned me!" She murmured and I sighed. Then, I felt my back and winced. Deep claw mark on my Fairy's Mark. It hurt like a bitch. I whimpered and her eyes widened.
"You're human blood dilutes your healing process." She says and I nod. Sometimes it even takes longer than average for me to heal. I pull down my shirt and throw on my jacket.
"Let's go." I told her. We stepped out of the store and Damen Endrė walks by, his arm slung around a petite yet venomous female. I knew Amy Cars is a vampire and I didn't like her.
Damon stopped and smelled my blood. He took in my pain filled expression and Aubree's shocked yet determined face. He flipped his hair and my knee's went weak. Please, I thought, let us pass.
He smirked at us and went on walking. And I thought he and Aubree were going to go to the dance. I laughed seeing Aubree's furious expression, not likely.
Finally we got to my car. I drove her home, assuring her I'm not an evil and that I'll be fine. It's just a little blood. Then, I drove myself home. As I looked at the scratch in my bathroom I recalled Aunt Brenda's lecture.
A shifter's scratch can curse... and kill. And then I doubled over.
