History of the evolution of Hindu god and goddesses is equally enchanting. The Hindu scriptures are a unique blend of subtle philosophy and amalgam of strange stories of mystified gods and goddesses. Rig Veda the oldest one depicted a grand process of alteration all gods and goddesses. According to Rig Veda , there are eight Vasus, eleven Rudras, twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati are the gods of earth, heaven and space. The Hindu gods people worship today can be classified as Shiva (his consort, His sons, His other forms), Vishnu(his various avatharams or incarnations), and Shakti (goddesses of power).
It is believed that Hinduism has zillion of god and goddesses. Rig Veda, the oldest scripture enumerated the description of gods and goddesses. Other aspects like of inanimate objects, qualities and emotions had been also exalted and worshiped. some of important ones are: Dyaush-pita (the sky father),Prithivi mata ( the earth mother), Vayu (the wind God), Arjanya (the rain God), Surya (the sun God), Varuna (the God of oceans), Agni (the fire God), Indra (the war God), Soma (the God of speech, deity of soma creeper), Ushas (the Goddess of dawn),
Yama (the God of death), Adityas (a group of deities, who are six in number in the Rig Veda, eight in most of the Brahmanas & twelve in the Satapatha Brahmana, Aswini (twin Deities), Rudras (eight in number), Vasus (eight in number), Visvedevas ( ten in number), and different incarnation of Lord Vishnu finds a secondary place in Veda.
The life in Hindu is a series of prayers and worship. Everything is so divine and ritualistic that every aspect of life is associated with rituals and prayers. Innumerable temples and Hindu festivals are the flaring examples of Hinduism. A vast number of local Hindu festivals revolve around the worship of gods in different part of India. God and goddesses have such significance in the life of people that in some festivals government has declared as "closed holidays". There is a biggest festivals in India comes in the month of September-October. This festival commemorates Ram's(Vishnu incarnated form) victory over Ravana(the king of demons) and the rescue of his wife Sita known as Dushera. At the same time in the eastern part of India Durga Puja is being celebrated that venerated the goddess of shakti with much ado. There are other numerous festivals associated with god and goddesses such as Mahashivratri (revere to Lord Shiva), Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the famous festival in Maharashtra celebrated in the month of August – September. At the same time Janmashtami, the birthday of Krishna(one of the incarnation of Vishnu), also occurs.
