Ryan O’Neal & Son Arrested

O’Neal, 67, and Redmond, 23, were arrested at around 8 a.m. Wednesday after authorities allegedly found drugs at their Malibu home during a "routine" probation search. The search stems from Redmond’s drug arrest earlier this year. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Wednesday, "This morning, deputies were doing a routine sweep to make sure Redmond was adhering to his probation. Upon searching the premises, the younger O’Neal was found in possession of narcotics. Later, a vial of drugs were found in the elder O’Neal’s bedroom. We believe the drugs found were methamphetamines." Both O’Neals are being held at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station on $10,000 bail each.

Redmond, whose mother is actress Farrah Fawcett, was arrested earlier this year in Malibu on charges of possession of heroin and meth and driving under the influence. He was sentenced to three years probation and charged $1,688. He has a long history of drug addiction and entered a rehabilitation facility in 2004 for heroin abuse. Redmond faces time behind bars if he is found to be in violation of his probation.

This has been a tough year for the O’Neal family. On July 1, O’Neal’s daughter Tatum was arrested near her home in New York City for allegedly trying to buy drugs. She plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and was sentenced to two half-day sessions of drug treatment and fined $95. If she completes the drug sessions and pays the fine all charges will be dismissed. Ryan was arrested last year, but not charged in a domestic dispute. He fired a gun at his home and claims that it was just a warning shot and he was protecting Redmond from his half-brother Griffin who allegedly lunged at the youngest O’Neal with a fireplace poker. Reps for O’Neal and Fawcett have not yet commented on the incident.
