Since the dawn of time, humankind has found signs and symbols fascinating and powerful. The power of the runes comes in what they have to teach us. The runes present lessons to us and, if used wisely, can facilitate the learning of those lessons quickly and efficiently. Runes do not provide the answers to all of life's problems. Nor do they imbue their user with magical powers. They do present signposts for the journey through life. The runes represent certain images, and by working with these, guidance and teaching becomes accessible to all. The lore of rune-casting was once the domain of the chosen few, and only a minority sought spiritual enlightenment. Today, many people seek answers to questions, and these seekers of wisdom should have access to clear instructions regarding this ancient oracle.

The way of the runes is subtle but powerful and has a profound effect on many levels. They are used not only for divination, but for protection, healing, empowerment and learning. The mystery of the runes is no mystery at all, it is simply a path towards greater learning that anyone can tread.

To learn from the runes you need to tune into their vibrations. Each rune has a corresponding tree, colour, herb and crystal which are keys to unlock its lessons. Working with these, you can set up a vibrational field that allows the subconscious mind to learn the vibration and teach its lesson to the conscious mind. This may take time and energy, but will give you a much more intimate relationship with your runes. Runes are commonly made from two materials, wood and stone, but you may also use other materials, such as crystals, glass beads or clay.
