Run - Chapter 2

Great chapter.
"I thought he was dead!" I yelled. My mother stepped back. "We thought so too, Draven. But I guess no one killed him. He got away." She hissed. I grabbed my head, trying to hold it together. "How does he even know about Lillith? Let me see the letter." I demanded. Alexia got up and handed me a crumpled piece of paper. I smoothed it out and read the sloppy hand writing.

Dear Traders,

Thanks to a little birdie, I know my dear twin brother has married and fucked my lover. They have a child. On the account that Draven stole my bride to be, and love of my life, I claim the child as mine. I will be coming to take my child as soon as possible. Don't try to stop me.

Your dearest, Drakon

I through the letter to the floor. "He is crazy! Can the King do anything about this?"I asked. "The King is doing all he can. He has soldiers all over the place, poised to kill Drakon." Vlad implied. I swallowed, and looked over at Akita. She was hugging Lillith to her, crying. I knew how much she feared my brother. Lillith didn't like a bite frightened though. That made me smile a little. I turned back to my mother. "Who's the little birdie?"I asked. "We don't know." She told me. I looked around the room. "Where are Penelope and Priscilla?" I asked. "Nelli and Pris are out destroying their lives, or rather just Priscilla." Mother grumbled. "What did they do?"I asked.I hadn't seen my little sisters since I had left the castle. They were off starting their own lives now. "Well, you know that Penelope is a lot more responsible than Pris. Priscilla is a rebel. She is pregnant with a humans baby he left her, thank God he didn't know what she was.

And Nelli is engaged to a vampire from India. Your father is not happy about that. It's not like we care what he thinks anyway. Im more upset about Prisi having a baby."she sighed. My mother had left my father after the Elene thing. He was in London. I hadn't seen him, or my sisters in five years. The girls were a lot older now, twenty in vampire years. I couldn't believe my little sisters were starting families. I shook off all my thoughts but one. "Back to Drakon. Where is he? When is he coming?" I asked. "There are hundreds of soldiers in the area. I don't think he'll slip by. So Lillith is safe, for now. I could go grab a soldier and ask him to patrol the house?" Vlad said. I nodded. Vlad left the room. "Mother what do you think we should do?" I asked. " I think you should run Draven. As soon as you can." She told me. I huffed, and turned to my wife and child. They were on the couch huddled together. I sat down and cradled them both in my arms. " We can't let him have her, Draven." Akita cried.

She was shaking. My brother had scared her deeply. "I won't let him get her. I promise." I whispered ,kissing her shoulder. "Where are we to run?" I asked mother. She looked outside and didn't answer. "You could go back to the castle. You would be safe there." Alexia said. "No!" Akita yelled. I sighed. "No, Lex. To many memories. To much drama, and pain." I said. "You're going to risk your daughter because, your wife is afraid to go back to the safest place you could go?"she asked in a sniff. I frowned, and looked down at my girls. "Akita, can we try to go back? It's the only why to make sure Drakon doesn't get Lilli." I whispered. "No. Please, no." she hissed. I bite my lip, and looked at my sister. "Make her go."she mouthed. I shook my head. I didn't think I could. It would kill her, to go back. I got up and went to the kitchen, and motioned Lex to follow. I paced the tile floor, as Alexia watched. I pinched my four head. "Ok, what if I left her here? What if I took Lillith to the castle and left Akita here?" I asked. Lexi shook her head. "Do you really want to leave her to Drakon?" she asked. "There are soldiers here, like Vlad said.

They can protect her."I said. "But she won't be as safe as she would be in the castle." Lex snapped. "He is after Lilli, not Kit! I can't let him get Lillith!" I yelled. "But you know deep down that it's not true. You know he wants Akita too." she said. I sighed. I did know, but I didn't want to believe it. "Alright, then how are we going to get there without her freaking out?" I asked. "What did you do last time. I disabled her nerves. But the doesn't work on vampires." I said. "Could we just knock her out?" she asked. I stopped pacing, and thought about it. "We could. It's for her own good." I hissed. Lex nodded. "We leave tomorrow night." She told me. Then she walked out of the kitchen and she and mother went outside to Vladimir.I walked back into the living room, where my family sat. Akita looked up at me. "What's going on?" she asked. "Nothing for now." I lied. Akita relaxed al little. All night Vlad kept patrol over the house, with a soldier at the ready, and Alexia and mother kept Akita busy while I packed.

As I packed our bags Lillith sat on the bed and watched me. "Daddy where are we going?" she asked, as I slipped one of Akita's gowns into her suitcase. "Lilli, we are going to a big castle on a mountain, where the King and Queen of all us vampires live with their children." I told her, still packing. "A castle? Why are we going?" she asked scrunching up her little nose. I smiled. "We are going because we need to hide from your uncle Drakon." I said. She jumped off the bed. " Like a game?!" she squealed. "Yes....like a....game, Lillli." I said unsure. She clapped her hands. "Hide and seek!" she yelled. I nodded. She sat down on the floor, and looked up at me. "Daddy, what's the castle like?" she asked. "Big and beautiful." I told her. "Dose a princess live there?" she asked. I turned around to her and looked her in the eye. "There are four." I smiled, holding up four fingers. She grabbed my fingers and giggled. "Three?!" she yelled. "Yes. Three." I turned back to packing. " Do I have to wear a princess dress at the castle?" she asked hugging my back. I grinned. "Yes. Go pack all your princess dresses for me, ok?"I told her. She ran to the door. "Don't tell your mother about the castle,or the trip Lillith. OK?"I yelled after her. "Ok!!!" she yelled back. That morning when everyone was in bed, I sat awake. I couldn't sleep, know my brother was after my family.

When the next night fell, I woke up Akita. She smiled at me. We both got out of bed, and went downstairs. I went to the kitchen and got a mug of blood, like I do every morning. Akita sat on the couch. When I walked into the living room, I thought I would see Kit, sitting sweetly on the couch, curled up. But instead I saw my sister smashing a two by four against my wife's head! Akita fell on the couch, out cold. I felt wrong seeing this, but I went along. Lex picked her up and gave her to Vlad, who took her to the car. I woke up Lillith and grabbed our bags. Then we all piled in the car and left, back to the castle.
