Royal Honeymoon Begins for Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Prince William and the former Kate Middleton recently left London and are believed to be honeymooning in the Seychelles, an island chain in the Indian Ocean.
When Prince William and Kate Middleton decided not to take an immediate honeymoon after their wedding, many were surprised. Instead of jetting off straight after the post-nuptials celebrations, as is most customary, the pair went back to their normal routines for a few days. William resumed his work as a rescue-helicopter pilot and Kate Middleton was seen strolling about shopping. But now the pair appear to be off on their honeymoon, as British media outlets were reporting that the pair left yesterday for their honeymoon abroad.

In hindsight, the brief delay in leaving for their honeymoon was probably a calculated maneuver. In the days since the Royal Wedding, things have been able to calm and new news items have surfaced. As a result, the intense media scrutiny on the couple may have eased a bit, allowing them to jet off without incident and possibly enjoy a more private get-away.

News initially broke of their destination in the Seychelles when a German real estate mogul revealed that he had rented one of the islands in the Seychelles chain to the Windsor family. "Yes, we rented the island to the British royal family," Vladi told the paper. "Prince William and his Kate are spending their honeymoon there. But you will understand that we are not saying anything further."

Officials from the Seychelles declined to comment on whether the royal couple was in fact staying in the islands. Given the ubiquity of paparazzi in today's world, however, I'm sure we're going to see photos of the couple on their honeymoon, regardless of where they are.
