Royal Darkness

Darkness. We all are born from it. Or are we? Both of my parents were and so was I. I have never had a normal childhood. Well, I guess that is because my parents and I are in fact vampire's. In fact, my mother was the very first vampire. Born over three-thousand years ago. She only met my dad seventeen years ago. That was the first time she fell in love in all of her three-thousand years. Then, after she turned him, she had me which was basically impossible. Since vampire's aren't supposed to have biological children but because she was the original vampire, then maybe only she could do it. It's a mystery. So, as far as I know, I am the only pure blood vampire besides my mother. That was, before she died five years ago.
People believed that it was an accident. But me and my dad know otherwise. The only way to kill a vampire is to decapitate them and then burn their body. All the other theories like a stake through the heart or the daylight are just myths. A stake through the heart just paralyzes us and the daylight. Well, let's just say we shine. However, the truth about us having "mysterious" powers isn't quite a myth. My mother could make people do or think whatever she wanted them to think. My dad and read people's minds.

Well everyone's but mine. And I can control blue fire. Blue fire is said to be the deadliest kind of fire but I also can control regular fire too. I can also create a shield both physical and mental. My best friend Rayne, can tell the future. Even though the future isn't supposed to be set and stone, she still knows it and it always happens. Ever since my mother died, my father has been in charge of the vampire world. But that is only until I turn eighteen and that is in only four months. A lot can happen till then. It was two days until school started when they moved in next door. It was a family of six with two boys and two girls plus the parents. There was something strange about them.

They almost looked like me and my dad in a way. Rayne was with me in my room going through my clothes for school. Rayne is kind of like my bodyguard. She protects me whenever I need it which is usually very rare. We looked out my window and oh my god. There they were. It always rains here in Seattle so we really don't know why they picked here to live. Well, you know why me, my dad, Rayne and her parents live here. Anyway, me and Rayne couldn't even get my clothes together. We just sat and watched them till they went inside for good.
Everyone knows that vampire's don't sleep. Even I don't sleep. But tonight is different. I feel like something is going to happen. Something bad and another thing good. So, I wait until another day arrives and the first day of my senior year. I watch the day begin. Once you get used to the days here, it isn't really hard to know when the morning begins. I take my shower and get ready like I always do.

I decided to wear my green v-neck short sleeve shirt with my pants that have a hole in the left knee and right below the pocket on the right. My dad still wasn't home from his "business meeting". Which was normal I guess. Rayne finally calls me at 7:30 saying it is time to go. I go out to my to find her waiting there. When we were ready to pull out, I see the new neighbors all get into their car. Both Rayne and me were just a watching them. They pulled out first and as they drove off, I saw the boy driving looking at me then smiled.

"Oh my god! Did he just look at you?" Rayne asked me.
" I think he just did. I can't believe it. Who would want to look at me?" I say.
"Girl. You just don't know how pretty you are. You know good and well that all the boys at school want to get with you."
"I know. But you know good and well it is just too dangerous for me to be with someone other than a vampire like me. The same goes for you."
"You have a good point."
We pull into the parking lot and as always boys are looking at me and Rayne as we pull up. I spot the same car the people next door drive and I park right beside it. I didn't realize that until I parked that they were all in the car still.

We get out of my car and start to head for class when our other vampire friend ,Michael, comes running to us grabbing us in a tight bear hug. Michael was really built. He played on the football team even though I don't know how he can do it. We run faster than humans and are also stronger than humans. He somehow manages to pull it off.
"So. What did you do for your summers?" he asked.
"Same as always. "Camp" for the most part." I answer.
As soon as I said that, he knew what I meant.
"Oh." was all he said.
"What did you do?" Rayne asked.
"Same. The only thing we really can do. It shines at the beach. And we really can't be around humans for very long. Well y'all can. But I can't. I get tempted too much."
"Well, you are newer than us." Rayne said.
"Yeah I know. It's not my fault. Well, I guess we better get going before we are late on our first day of our senior years. See y'all in class."
"See ya." me and Rayne say at the same time.
I guess Michael's power would be his brute strength. In a way it was a good thing. That would mean that he would be a good bodyguard for me. That is what he was made for anyway. My first class was math.

My worst subject. I walk into class early so I can find a seat in the back of the class room. There, I don't get tempted as bad. Maybe it's because I kinda hide myself. Rayne always sits beside me and Michael sits on the other side. Right after the late bell rings, who walks in but the boy who smiled at me earlier. All of a sudden I felt Rayne tense beside me. I knew that she had a vision. She released her hold just a little.
"What's wrong? What did you see?" I ask her.
"That boy who just walked in. He!. He. He is a vampire. Just like us."
"WHAT!?!?!?!?!?" Me and Michael ask at the same time. The teacher turned at looked at us.
"How can this be? I didn't even sense anything coming from him." I say so low so they were the only ones to hear me.
"Neither did I." Michael said.
" I don't know." Rayne whispered.
