Romance on the Dance Floor - Ch. 14
Layla tells Sean about Tanya. And there's another surprise. Please keep on commenting.
I decided to post anyway to not let you wait longer. I hope their aren't too many mistakes because I reread it a million times.
I also added a picture of Layla or at least how I imagined her to be. Strong, beautiful and passionate by dance.
I couldn't find a picture that did Sean any justice :). And honestly I rather leave that to your imagination. My taste in guys can be different then yours and I just don't want to ruin that picture for you. But if you have any names of cute dancers that you think could be Sean, don't hesitate to tell them to me.
Hope you enjoy the story.

I came home late in the evening, still shocked about what I had found out. I mean I just made friends with the ex-girlfriend of a guy I was in love with. I sure knew how to make things more complicated.
How could I have known it was Tanya? It’s not like I expected her to be like that. I always imagined her to be more like the bitchy type. But then again I could understand why she was so special to Sean. She had it all, beauty and personality. At least from what I had discovered.
I made my way to my room and heard the music coming from the dance studio. It was probably Sean. And then it hit me. Did I have to tell him what happened today? He probably should know that she’s back in town. And how would he feel about me being friends with her?
After a while of pondering I decided to go and tell him about her.
I knocked on the door that was half open. He didn’t hear it, but as soon as he saw me he stopped dancing. He walked towards the stereo and turned off the music.
"Hi" he said dryly. He looked serious which made me wonder if telling him was a good idea. But I had to.
"Hi" I replied while entering the studio.
"I need to talk to you" I made my way to the couch and sat down.
"Okay" he came towards me and sat on the table in front of me. He was distend and tried to avoid eye contact.
"I met someone" I said
He looked me in the eye and froze. His eyes were wide open like he was shocked.
"You met a guy?" he asked.
"No no no, I put it out wrongly" I said.
His eyes softened as if he was relieved.
"Oh" he said looking a bit embarrassed by his spontaneous reaction.
"So what seems to be the problem?" he asked
"Well I ran in to this girl, she had a problem with her car, she ran out of fuel …"
"You met Tanya?" he said surprised.
"How did you know that?"
"I don’t think there’s another person that looses track of the fuel indicator as much as she does" he answered.
It was quiet for a while. I looked at him trying to figure out what he was thinking. His eyes were blank.
"Look, I didn’t know who she was at first. We started talking and… well…"
"What? You guys are friends now?" he asked.
"I wouldn’t say friends, but she suggested hanging out sometimes. She’s kind of nice."
"I never said she wasn’t." he said arrogantly.
"And what do I have to do with all this?" his tone was still arrogant making me wonder what I did wrong.
"I just thought you should know" I answered.
"Look, I don’t care what you two do. Whatever you do with your life is none of my business." He got up from the table and went his way to the door.
"I didn’t ask your permission, you know" my tone was arrogant too as he started to get on my nerves.
"Well then why are you telling me this?" he turned around to look at me.
"You are really something" I said while I walked towards him.
"Here I am trying to talk to you about it to avoid any weirdness…"
"Why would it be weird? It’s not like we’re together or something" he interrupted me.
I sighed.
"I don’t know why I even bother" I said and walked away.
"Oh yeah, just a small detail" Sean said. I ignored him and kept on walking.
"She lives just a cross the street" I froze trying to process the ‘detail’ he just gave me. After a few seconds and without turning back I walked away.

Later that evening I was in the kitchen making myself a sandwich when Kate came in.
She threw her suitcase on the floor and walked towards the stairways.
"Sean, can you come downstairs!" she looked upset.
"Everything okay?" I asked her.
"No, I'm organizing a very important fashion show that is due in 10 days and I just received a phone call from the model agency telling me that one of the models wont be able to make it." She said while taking a seat next to me and rubbing her forehead.
"Can’t they replace her?" I asked.
"All of there models are fully booked and there’s no time to find someone else. That’s why I hate working with those agencies"
"What’s wrong?" Sean asked.
"Can you please dig into your ‘black book’ I need a girl to model for the fashion show?"
"What do you think I am? A pimp." he said with a smile.
"Well kind of. Now can you help me or not?" it was obvious that Kate was annoyed.
"No, mum I’m sorry" he replied. I was surprised by his answer. I saw the girls he hung out with and they were almost all model material.
"I know a beautiful girl" I said while looking at Sean. I was referring to Tanya and from his look he knew I meant her. I was trying to hit a nerve. Trying to get back at him for being such a jerk earlier.
"She has to be tall, Layla" Sean said while looking at me viciously.
I tried to imagine her again and he was right I remembered being way taller than her.
"Layla can do it" Sean continued. I knew he said that to tease me.
"Of course. Why didn’t I think of that in the first place. You’ll be perfect for it!" Kate said with a lot of enthusiasm.
"No, no no no no" I answered.
"Why not?" Kate asked.
"Playing model is just not my style, besides my ass is too big for walking on a catwalk" Sean lowered his eyes to my ass making me regret my impulsive reaction.
"I wouldn’t ask you if I didn’t think you’d be perfect for this. You look even better then half the models participating." I was very flattered with this compliment.
"I don’t know, Kate" I said
"Oh c’mon, Layla. It’s just for one day. You would really help me out with this. Besides Sean does it every year for me. It's not that bad you know." she looked at me almost begging. How could I refuse after all she has done for me?
I sighed
"Okay, just because it’s you" I said while looking at Kate.
Kate jumped of joy.
"Come we shouldn’t waste time" she grabbed my hand and pulled me to the living room.
"Sean, can you grab the dictionary please" Kate asked. I didn’t understand what a dictionary had to do with this.
Sean gave me the dictionary and saw my confusion.
"I think you have to try walking with this on your head" he said.
After a few attempts and with the advice of Kate to move my hips a little more I finally managed to walk without the dictionary falling to the ground.
"I really don’t understand why girls want to be models. I mean it’s boring. All you have to do is walk. There’s no expression, no cool moves, nothing" I said.
Kate looked at me with eyes wide open as if she had a splendid idea.
"You’re right, we need something new. This would be perfect"
"What would be perfect?" Sean asked.
"You and Layla should do a dance routine as an opening act."
"What?! No!" we said in one voice.
"You two think about the music and the routines. And I'm going to the office to handle some things. I suggest you go by my office tomorrow to meet the designer so that hen can explain his vision to you." she went to the kitchen to get her suitcase came back quickly to thank us and left, totally ignoring our disapproval.
"This is all your fault" I said while looking at Sean.
"If you hadn't said that modeling was boring, she wouldn't have come up with this stupid idea, Layla"
"Whatever" I said and left the room.

I was standing with my crew by the school’s parking lot when I suddenly saw Tanya waving at me. I had told her that I went to school here.
I waved back making the rest of the crew members turn around to look who was there.
"You know her?" Ty asked
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"Just asking".
Tanya walked towards us with a kind smile on her face that suddenly disappeared as soon as she saw Ty.
"Hi Tanya, long time no see" Ty said.
I could see that Tanya felt uncomfortable.
"I’m glad you came. I was just about to call you" I said, trying to make her at ease.
"Yeah, I was just around the neighbourhood and I thought to drop by to say ‘hi’" she said with a little voice.
"Well we really missed you Tanya." Ty said while grabbing her by the shoulder and pulling her close to him. His eyes were directed to the other side of the parking lot. I turned around and found Sean standing there. Ty did that on purpose to make Sean jealous. The sun of a bitch.
But Sean just rolled his eyes, shook his head and left, giving the impression that it didn’t touch him. But whatever was going on inside of him was just a big mystery.
Tanya didn’t understand Ty’s reaction but was clearly not comfortable being so close to him. She escaped from is grip and saw Sean leave. I saw sadness in her eyes.
"So guys, I guess I see you at the Clipse tonight?" I said while grabbing Tanya’s arm and pulling her away from the crew.
"You should come too" Theresa said to Tanya. Was she enjoying this? I wouldn’t be surprised, Theresa always had a thing for drama.
"Uhm… yeah… I’ll see" Tanya answered nervously. The poor girl lost all self confidence.
"I didn't know you danced in Ty's crew" Tanya said the minute we were alone.
I nodded. "Do you know him" I pretended like I knew nothing about the whole triangle thing.
"Unfortunately yes. Let's say that he's a part of my history that I'm not so proud of" I saw sadness in her eyes.
"And are you coming tonight? To The Clipse?" I asked
"Well I was planning to. I kind of hoped to meet someone there" she answered. Did she mean Sean? Did she came back to get back with him?
I opened my bag to look for my wallet to see if I had enough money on me. I started digging but could not find it at first sight.
"Are you okay?" Tanya asked
"I think I lost my wallet" I answered while putting my bag on the ground. I bended towards it so that I could look for it more intensively.
"Can you please hold this for me?" I asked Tanya while giving her my mobile. My bag was one big mess, no wonder I couldn't find my stuff in it.
Suddenly my phone went off.
"Can you take it?" I asked without thinking and kept on digging in my bag to find my wallet. There it was.
"Hello" Tanya answered the phone and then it hit me. What was I thinking? What if it was Sean that was calling? He was going to call me so that we can meet each other to go to Kate's office. I hoped it wouldn't be him.
"Sean?" Tanya said surprised. I froze. Oh no it is him and she obviously recognized his voice.
"He hung up on me" Tanya said. "Do you know Sean?"
"Uh, yeah. We…uh… work together on… an assignment" I said stuttering. I hoped she wouldn't notice that I was lying.
"That's perfect!" she said enthusiastic. I didn't understand what she was so enthusiastic about.
"Sean is my ex boyfriend and now you can help me get back with him" I froze when hearing it.
"Look Tanya, I don’t know if I can do that." I answered
"Why not?"
"Well for starters I’m just working on an assignment with him nothing more. We are not friends. And uh…" I hesitated but I was obligated to say it "Ty or anyone else can’t know about me and Sean" I could see that she was surprised.
"Why would working with him on a school assignment be a secret?" she was right. I was a bad liar.
"Look I will explain to you later. Just promise me you won’t say anything?"
"You have my word. So I see you tonight I suppose?"
"Yeah, sure"
*****************
After calling Sean back, and he was quiet curt with me on the phone, I joined him at his car a few blocks away.
"Hi, I’m sorry I’m late" I said.
He didn’t answer. He had his gaze on the road and totally ignored me.
"Look, I’m sorry about what happened. I didn’t mean…"
"What, you two are going to team up now to get us back together?" he interrupted me. His voice was calm but I could see that he was angry as he squeezed his two hands on the steering wheel. I felt my blood rise.
"What? I’m I hearing this right? Do you really think we did that on purpose?" my voice became louder and I felt anger going through me.
"I don’t know, you tell me" he answered loudly.
"Yeah, I thought hey, why not help this girl I just met yesterday get back together with her ex and risk having my secret come out all for the sake of love" I answered sarcastically.
He sighed, realizing that it indeed did not make sense.
"So what did you tell her?" he asked with a calm voice.
"Oh what do you care, it’s not like you have anything to loose." I said angrily. He didn't say a word.
We arrived at this big building. We walked towards the elevator where Sean guided me to the 12th floor. We arrived at this big reception. The place looked classy and stylish with big modeling pictures on the wall and models walking around the working place.
It was obvious Sean came here often as the people we ran into were all greeting him.
We reached a desk with this beautiful secretary "Just in time" she said while guiding us to a closed office. As soon as she opened the door I saw Kate and some skinny guy waiting for us.
"Is this the girl?" the skinny guy said. It was obvious that he was the designer. He seemed the type. He was small and skinny, was bold and was wearing very tight clothes.
"Yes it's her" Kate answered proudly.
"Well you sure know how to pick them Kate. She's gorgeous" he said while looking at me from top to toe.
"Hi, I'm Layla" I said.
"Hi Layla, my name is George" he answered. "And hi Sean" he said while winking at him. It was obvious that Sean was more like his type. Sean nodded uncomfortably at him.
"So let's cut to the case. What I want is for you to tell a story with your dance. A love story."
"Can you be more specific?" Sean asked.
"I'm getting there, hunny" George said. He then started staring above him as if he was amagining the the story.
"The story is about a girl and a boy who are in love but for some reason are afraid to give there hearts to each other. I want to see love, I want to see passion and drama and... " He then looked at us as if he was waking up from a dream and said "I want a happy ending of course."
"How do you want us to express that in our dance?" I asked
"Girl I'm a designer not a choreographer. Kate says you're great dancers, so just do your thing." I looked at Kate that was wearing a troubled look. She didn't expect this.
"So Layla I have your dress and shoes in the cabin right there, go try it on so that I can see if it fits."
In the cabin I found this black dress and black high heels. I have to say that this wasn't what I expected.
I tried it on and it fitted perfectly. The long halter dress, that revealed a little to much of my body made me hesitate to come out.
"Layla, we don't have all day" George said.
I came out of the cabin and saw everybody with amazed eyes looking at me.
"Wow, this is totaly your dress girl!" George said.
"Do I really need to dance in this?" I asked.
"Yes dear".George said with a big smile in his face.
Sean's eyes were on me for a few seconds but quickly looked away as soon as he saw me looking at him.
I went to take a look in the mirror. The long black dress had a slightly widened bottom and a split on the left side of the dress making it reveal my leg and my thigh. I turned around to see the open back of the dress. I have to admit that I really liked the dress even though I wasn't used to reveal my body like that, I felt like a holiwood star wearing it.
While I looked at my mirror image I saw Sean's gaze on me. His soft warm eyes carresed my body from top to toe and he kept his eyes on me not realizing that I was looking at him. I enjoyed it and wished it'll never stop.
"So Sean, what do you think?" Kate asked
"It's alright" Sean answered while looking away.
Alright? Is that all he could say? Alright? He practically drooled on me and he says it's alright? Yeah right.
"It's faboulous my dear. And it's obvious you two won't have trouble in dancing the story." George said while looking at me and Sean. What did he mean by that?
"I have the feeling this will be the best fashion show ever, Kate." he continued.
We left the office and Kate guided us to the elevator.
"I hope he gave you some clarety" Kate said.
"Well it's not going to be easy to dance in such a dress not to mention the shoes." I answered
"You'll do fine...You know you don't have to take everything he says seriously. I mean you just..." she obviously was worried about the story.
"Oh but mum...he's the designer. If he wants passion and love, he should get passion and love" Sean answered to tease his mother.
"It won't be that hard you know. We just rip each other's clothes off and make love right there on the catwalk" he continued with a big smile on his face.
"Would you stop it" I answered "Don't worry Kate"
"You two just behave and get the dance ready. I see you guys tonight" Kate said and left.
As we went down in the elevator we both didn't say a word.
Passion, Love, Drama normally this shouldn't be difficult for us. Yet for some reason I was worried. I looked at Sean and saw him poundering. Was he thinking what I was thinking?
